Euro NCAP are trucking at the Road Transport Expo (RTX) at Stoneleigh in Warwickshire UK looking at the latest trucks and safety technologies that will feature in the new Euro NCAP Truck Safe ratings that launch in November 2024. The ratings will use what we call the Haddon Matrix, 4 pillars that explain the timeline of a crash - Safe Driving, the hours before a crash - Crash Avoidance, the seconds before the accident where ADAS can help avoid - Crash Protection, where good structure and restraints are life savers, and Rescue, the golden hour where 1st responders need access to the vehicle to safely extract a crash victim. Systems and technologies will be evaluated in each pillar to ensure vehicles are safe, not only in a crash but also supporting the driver in the hours before.
