✨ From Paper to Pixels: Embracing the Digital Revolution in Apparel Design✨ Hello LinkedIn community! Today, I want to share with you my journey as an intimate apparel technical designer, and how Clo3D revolutionized the way I work. 📏 The Beginning: The Struggle with Paper Drafting My career began with traditional hand-drafting patterns. While this method had its charm, it was painstakingly slow and prone to inaccuracies. I knew there had to be a more efficient way. 🖥️ The Digital Shift: Exploring Options Wanting more efficiency, I dabbled in Adobe Illustrator, since I was already using it for flat sketches. It was a step forward, but still not the game-changer I was looking for. I needed something tailored for apparel design. My search led me to pattern drafting software, but the high costs of options like Gerber were a significant barrier. 🌐 Discovering Clo3D and Browzwear Then, I stumbled upon Clo3D and Browzwear, and although there was not a lot of information on using them for pattern drafting or product development, they seemed promising. I decided to take a leap of faith with Clo3D, starting with a free trial. 🔥 The Challenge: Initial Hurdles with Clo3D Honestly, it wasn't love at first use. The learning curve was steep, the software often crashed, and I was close to giving up. But after a brief return to hand drafting, the inefficiencies nagged at me, urging me to give Clo3D another chance. 📈 Persistence Pays Off: Overcoming Obstacles On my second attempt, things started to click. My prior experience helped me navigate the learning curve more smoothly, and despite some crashes, I began to create designs faster and, more importantly, enjoy the process! 🤝 Meeting Sofia Sofía Luzón: A Turning Point My proficiency in 3D grew, but I still needed to refine my pattern making skills. Enter Sofia, an amazing mentor who helped me enhance these crucial skills. 🚀 Today: A Freelance Clo3D Designer Fast forward to now, I work remotely with Kristen Anderson, creating 3D prototypes of client collections, and using Clo to increase efficencies accross the development and fitting process. Each project is an exciting new challenge, and I am loving every step of this journey. 🌍 Sharing My Passion I love what I do, and I love sharing how I do it. I LOVE seeing how far you've come -- but also, oh how I can't wait to see all the work to come. You are a superstar, Trudy!!
I tried so hard to like Clo3D. To your point, the learning of it insane. I started over teaching myself and watching all the tutorials, but couldn't get into it. Sticking to my ways on Illustrator. Your work is amazing. Keep going!
Hello Trudy, I have finally read the retrospective by series of trials. I can feel exactly how you feel. As an expert on 2D pattern drafting, you should really gone through a tough moment. That’s the reason since the last two decades. I tried to develop a workable solution, an alternative which has ability to generate direct 3D/4D garment and 2D productive pattern. A first software dedicated for garment engineering, it help us defintively to get rid of the 2D pattern drafting. The software is Cincern about the Digital Garmrnt Fit technology.
