YouTube, one of the first few services that are leading the way in adding new AI generated content labeling tool for creators to self-label whether their content has been altered by AI This is definitely a step in the right direction given that Deepfakes are clearly seeping into the digital ecosystems and we need better trust and safety tools to call them out. https://lnkd.in/gqS-m2ny

A step in the right direction to combat deepfakes. It will be interesting to see how (1) accurately YouTube can detect these and (2) where we will draw the line between filtering/post-production and "AI altered".

I appreciate that effort; it helps us distinguish between real human-generated content and AI-generated content. As you may know, I utilize AI primarily as a tool, more as an assistant rather than for creating content on my behalf. While AI's presence is undeniable and here to stay, we should exercise caution in its use. There are still many caveats to consider. What are your thoughts on this topic? #AI #AlteredAI #AIcreation

YouTube's new AI-generated content labeling tool is a significant stride for the AI industry, particularly in online content creation and consumption. With the exponential growth of synthetic media and deepfake technology, there's an urgent need for transparency and accountability. By empowering creators to self-label their AI-generated content, YouTube not only fosters a culture of honesty and integrity but also enables users to make informed decisions about the authenticity of the content they engage with. This move aligns with YouTube's commitment to combating misinformation and sets a precedent for other platforms to follow suit, ultimately contributing to a safer and more trustworthy online environment. #AI #contentcreation #transparency #accountability #YouTube

Is Gen-AI all about generating machine-made content? 🤖 Far from it. Yet every time I speak to someone about Gen-AI the conversation immediately jumps to the likes of deepfakes and algorithms stealing people's jobs. 🗣️ "Gen-AI can write film scripts now, right?" Probably. But not very good ones. And it has other uses. This obsession with machine-generating content is hurting innovation in the entertainment industry. We need to start differentiating between using Gen-AI to replace human talent, and using Gen-AI to enhance content created by human talent. If we don't, we won't unleash its full potential. It's great to see my thoughts on this subject featured in Maddyness. If you want to know more, follow the link below. https://lnkd.in/etHAfAja

YouTube is on the #AIethics bandwagon, requiring creators to label "realistic-looking" content made using AI. "[T]oday, we're introducing a new tool in Creator Studio requiring creators to disclose to viewers when realistic content – content a viewer could easily mistake for a real person, place, scene, or event – is made with altered or synthetic media, including generative AI. We’re not requiring creators to disclose content that is clearly unrealistic, animated, includes special effects, or has used generative AI for production assistance."

YouTube Introduces AI Content Disclosure Tool YouTube has made a significant stride in its commitment to transparency and trust by introducing a self-labelling tool for creators. This tool allows them to disclose AI-generated or synthetic material in their videos, a crucial step in preventing content that could potentially mislead viewers. Creators now have a vital role in maintaining transparency. During the upload process, they will find a checkbox to indicate if their video contains 'altered or synthetic' content that appears realistic. This includes deepfakes or any realistic-looking scenes that didn’t actually happen. However, the system relies on the creators' honesty, highlighting their responsibility in this process. This policy is a testament to YouTube’s unwavering commitment to balancing creativity with responsibility. As AI technology progresses, platforms must adapt to ensure that users can discern between genuine and synthetic content.
