As the MAGAts mocked Paul Pelosi for being attacked in his home with insane accusations, the Democratic party condemned the attack on Trump. Decency over dishonor and disgrace. After a school shooting Trump infamously stated "We have to get over it." I will always choose Democracy over fascism. I will always choose the rule of law over lawlessness. I will always choose the Constitution over Project 2025, or Agenda 47. I will always choose decency over hatred. I will always choose facts over lies and misinformation. I will always choose science over superstition. I will always choose sanity and decorum over lunacy and dysfunction...in a nutshell, I will ALWAYS choose a Democratic candidate over a Republican, every time! VOTE BLUE!

I firmly believe in taking action against #disinformation with a sharp legal sword, both against the creator of the disinformation and against the disseminators of this disinformation (the media). The son of US President Hunter #Biden has threatened to sue #Fox News, the right-wing news channel, for alleging that he and his father took bribes from a Ukrainian company. Fox also broadcasts a six-part series depicting a possible mock trial against Hunter Biden, an infamous form of defamation of character. In the USA, such a defamation suit against a media outlet is difficult to bring because the First Amendment (freedom of expression) is highly regarded here, as plaintiffs typically need to show the outlet knowingly ran false claims or acted with reckless disregard for the truth. In Germany, a plaintiff can bring such an action more easily. However, the damages of such a media outlet (including compensation payments) are relatively low. As a result, some media outlets (especially tabloids, the yellow press, and now a right-wing channel) will make a cost-benefit calculation and offset the expected number of users against the expected penalty. It is possible that this calculation would no longer work out for some media if the compensation payments were to be increased. https://lnkd.in/df48ZncE #disinformation #defamation #lawsuit #hunterbiden #yellowpress

With no other motivation except that I am constantly impressed with the objectivity of reporting, and in an effort to contribute in some small way to addressing the increasingly worrying rhetoric and political discourse in this country, I would like to recommend Tangle and its analysis of the attempt on President Trump's life. I rarely even touch on anything that might be construed as "political" on social media because - well, you know why. But there is something about the attempted assassination of former President Trump that really nags at me. And it's not a political issue. It is obvious, from a Clarity perspective, that the various law enforcement agents/agencies were NOT "on the same page" as far as securing the site. Lack of leadership clarity led to disaster. I write about (and train on ) clear communications not because it's a pleasant option, a nice-to-have. It's a mission-critical necessity. All the way to the top.

Biden Accused of Trump Assassination Attempt.. Shortly following the assassination attempt of Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania yesterday US politicians took to social media to claim Biden was behind it. Misinformation swirled on the socials wrongly identifying the shooter too... In moments of significant news events where a lot is unknown or unreported it is easy for society create their own narratives online, and with a reduction in misinformation detection on platforms such as Facebook and Twitter (X) this can allow for inaccurate content to spread like wildfire. Bad state actors can also take advantage of the confusion and amplify narratives that perpetuate chaos. Without a robust framework to counter mis/disinformation online we will see instances like this create opportunities for anyone to manipulate the political discourse. Trump’s Indictment and the Weaponization of Conspiracy Theories by the Far-Right - PDF: https://lnkd.in/gBCGHHjT This paper aims to raise awareness among policymakers and security forces regarding the exploitation of social media platforms by far-right actors to denounce the indictment of former President Donald Trump. The study was conducted over a one-month monitoring period from 18 MARCH to 18 APRIL, and found that these actors focused on two main themes: Conspiracy Theories and Content Advocating for Violence. Conspiracy theories alleged that a secret organization was manipulating decision-makers to indict Trump, with these theories falling under the themes of antisemitism, QAnon, and the New World Order. In addition, the study found that far-right actors used violent language, including calls for the death of individuals connected to the legal proceedings and those perceived as potential threats.
