"Everyone worked shoulder to shoulder on Direct File, it wasn't like you had one vendor working on one part and another one working on another, everyone left their organizational affiliation at the door.” In this article, Bridget Roberts - Chief, Direct File highlights one of the most important components of the success of Direct File – the blended team working shoulder to shoulder: “I do attribute that to a lot of our success: We had such great people from all across the tech industry and government working together," Roberts shared. #directfile #softwaredevelopment #civictech #truss #values #shouldertoshoulder https://lnkd.in/g8ejd-GU

When I started working in tech, it was on a digital production team at an advertising agency. Up until that point, everything I had learned about advertising was from 'Who's the Boss?' (Angela was my hero for a few years). It sounded fun and I was at a point where I just wanted to work around creative people, be able to share my ideas, and learn lots of new things. It blew my mind how much work, how many people, and how much time it took to fully execute something like a 15 sec commercial--how much a 5 word tagline would be debated, re-worked, tested, overlaid on different graphics, flexed across print, radio, tv, and online video ideas - all to see if it still worked or *how* it could work through different channels. But seeing how much went into a 15 sec spot was illuminating. Fast forward to present times, it's no less amazing the number of people and years spent advocating to modernize a service to the public. The sheer will to organize and implement something that has the potential to reach millions of people is just awesome in all senses of the word. To truly make something accessible, to make something that *WORKS*, something that can serve as a foundation for bring a government service closer to the public (and hey, this is one example where I AM the user, too) --it's still mind blowing. It takes a lot of very dedicated people deciding to work together and to focus on a common goal. It's been a great pleasure to be one of the teams steadily working shoulder to shoulder with our peers and partners. Just like that 15 sec spot--all that effort, advocacy, and work is hard to see until you get to experience the final product. Fingers crossed this will come to a state near you (and me!) soon.

It's no secret the Internal Revenue Service has been operating on some outdated technology for years. But that's all about to change in a big way. The IRS just got a massive $80 billion funding boost to modernize its systems and processes - the biggest upgrade the agency has seen in decades. So what does this mean for small business owners like you? MASCPA is here to break it down and make sure you're prepared to take full advantage. 📌 One of the key initiatives is a brand new platform for filing 1099 forms, called IRIS. Finally, you can say goodbye to the notoriously complex FIRE system! IRIS is designed to be a much more user-friendly, streamlined experience. The IRS is even rolling out a bulk filing feature to make submitting those forms a breeze. 📌 But the upgrades don't stop there. The IRS is also moving towards secure, online taxpayer accounts where they can send notices and other communications directly to you. No more lost letters in the mail! Plus, there's a new digital document upload tool so you can easily submit forms and records without having to print, scan, and fax. These may seem like small changes, but they add up to a big improvement in efficiency and convenience for small businesses. Instead of wasting time and energy navigating the IRS' clunky old systems, you'll be able to handle all your tax obligations quickly and painlessly. Of course, the team at MASCPA is here to guide you through these exciting IRS modernizations every step of the way. We'll make sure you're taking full advantage of the new tools and processes, so you can focus on growing your business rather than fighting with the tax agency. Ready to learn more about how the IRS' $80 billion upgrade can benefit your company? Reach out to us today. The future of taxes is getting a major makeover - don't get left behind! #IRSModernization #SmallBusiness #TaxCompliance #MASCPA #FutureOfTaxes #TaxTips
