While exploring Charging & Billing aspects of Satellite Communications Services like Assets tracking, disaster management, Telematics, etc. I have come across importance of NIDD (Non-IP Data Delivery) for transmitting data with minimized overhead and its use of control plane instead of user plane. It is ideal for sending small and infrequent data packets. By combining NIDD, SCEF and Diameter, such Services can be charged with usage models like Event based, Volume based, etc. So much more to explore in the fields of Satellite Communications, M2M & IoT. Efficient Setup for #5G Outdoor Application: In many 5G applications, the challenge is to get a good mobile signal, e.g. in buildings, on ships and in industrial plants. An antenna location indoors often provides no or insufficient signal. The possible antenna cable length is also severely limited by line losses.
