We are pleased to announce the expansion of our partnership with the Academy of Our Lady of Peace, the oldest high school in San Diego and a distinguished institution for young women. This collaboration marks the continuation of an inspiring journey as we launch our inaugural internship cohort next week, as a component of the TrustThink science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) Scholars Program. At TrustThink, we are committed to nurturing the next generation of tech innovators. We'll be providing up to 8 students per year with internships that we hope will provide them with a platform to become future leaders. This initiative is focused on empowering girls to take on leadership roles in STEM. Our interns will have the opportunity to engage in projects involving machine learning, software development, cyber security, and encryption. This real-world experience is designed to pave their path to standout college applications and job opportunities, equipping them with the skills and confidence to lead in the tech world. ✋ Here are 5 things I did to land an internship in my first year of Community College. This is coming from someone who *was* an introvert until high school graduation. Standing out is especially hard for 1st years because you don't know really know anything. You just started -- duh. 🤷♂️ I didn't know anything, but I knew I wanted to make the best of my experience. So here's a quote that I cooked up as I was writing this: "The ideal that I should've been doing something compelled me to do anything and everything." For me, these things included: ⚡ Surrounding myself with ambitious classmates. We attended events and worked on group projects together. ⚡ Joining an ACM chapter and starting a CS club with friends. This taught me basic business/project management skills. ⚡ Becoming a Computer Science lab aide. I connected with 100+ students and simultaneously mastered coding fundamentals. ⚡ Attending lots of resume building workshops. My first resume was worse than 0(n^3) runtime and needed a major glow up. ⚡ APPLYING TO INTERNSHIPS. Don't feel ready? Perfect -- Do it anyway. Ultimately, these strategies landed me my first SWE internship at Microsoft x Cyborg Mobile.
