Would you take business advice from two 8-year-olds ? True Story I had pitched for a search assignment and on getting home, my children quizzed me on where I had been and what I had been doing. 🤑 I had been feeling pretty cocky with a verbal yes from the client. 🤢 They brought me back to earth with a jolt, just imagine a deflating balloon. 😟 "Daddy, why are you working with a business that kills people?" Sounds a bit extreme but the company made cigarettes, so I got the logic.   Life and Business Lessons from this ?   1. The opinions of those important to you matter so don’t be afraid to ask. 2. Be open, good advice can come from unexpected places. 3. Always consider your Moral Compass when making a decision. 4. Remember that you choose who you work with, you have a choice. 5. Somewhat off-topic... this year marks the 20th anniversary of Guru Red Manifesto, a book I co-authored with Curt Sahakian. It describes 52 rules of engagement enterprises can follow to thrive during chaotic times. We drafted these rules in 2004 in response to our growing concern for the direction business was taking as we entered the new millennium. We've dusted off the old rules, added new ones, and set up a Substack to host comments and questions.
