An Electronic Sortable Spreadsheet is one of the traceability requirements established by #FSMA204. FDA has released a template to demonstrate all the data that must be provided in an electronic sortable spreadsheet, broken out by Critical Tracking Event, when requested by FDA. Companies are not required to use this specific electronic sortable spreadsheet template to comply with the rule, but it is a helpful resource that clearly outlines required records that must be included. https://lnkd.in/ezxhFth3

One of the key requirements of #FSMA204 is that organizations covered by the rule must provide to FDA, within 24 hours upon request, required Key Data Elements (KDEs) in the form of an electronic sortable spreadsheet. Recently, FDA published a sample template that organizations can use as a guide when pulling their own traceability records into an electronic sortable spreadsheet format. #FDA has published a final rule amending the bases for which a Food Contact Notification (#FCN) can be deemed no longer effective, and the procedures for doing so. In addition to FDA determining the food contact substance (FCS) is no longer safe for the intended use, an FCN can be revoked if it is no longer produced, supplied or used, or if the FCS is authorized by a food additive regulation or is the subject of a Threshold of Regulation (TOR) exemption. The amendment also establishes that the manufacturer/supplier of the FCS will have time to respond to a "no longer safe for intended use" determination to supply data or other support for the FCN. The final rule becomes effective on May 21, 2024. https://lnkd.in/eVA-QWWN

📣 Revised Appendix to the Preventive Controls for Human Food Guidance published by FDA The FDA has recently released a revised draft of Appendix 1 “Known or reasonably foreseeable hazards (“potential hazards”). The changes include: ▪️ The addition of new sections and descriptions meant to better explain the purpose of the Appendix, how it was developed and how it should be used; ▪️ Revisions to the product categories identified within the Appendix to better reflect food ingredients rather than finished products; ▪️ Replacement of a series of process-related hazard tables with a discussion of those hazards; ▪️ An updated discussion on food allergen hazards; and ▪️ Citations to scientific, technical and regulatory information references, particularly for less-commonly known hazards identified for different food categories. ↪️ Read more at https://vist.ly/ytgq #FDA #FSMA #HumanFood #Guidance #PCQI
