Your air-fryer is "spying" on you. Apparently, not just air-fryers. Other smart home gadgets such as your smart door viewer, home speakers, telly, smart watches etc are doing the same. And it is not just the Chinese brands as well. My humble suggestion is to review the permissions that smart devices ask for. Also, consider just sticking to regular non-smart appliances if you do not need them being "smart". My mates tell me that no big deal & no need to be concerned that the home appliance is spying on you. Cos none of us are top government officials, politicians or dealing with state secrets. That is true. So, for clarity, we should be more concerned that these "spying" permissions also give access to cyber-criminals et al. Don't blame the appliance when your biometric data e.g. headshot and/or personal identifiable information (PII) is harvested by malware to perpetrate identity theft. https://lnkd.in/gQfAByfu

📺 Your smart TV might be spying on you... A Princeton University study found that many popular smart TV brands collect extensive data about users' viewing habits and preferences, often without clear consent. This data can include sensitive information like your location and even the contents of your conversations if your TV has voice recognition. 🔒 While this data is typically collected for advertising purposes, it raises significant privacy concerns. Be aware of the data your smart devices collect and share, and take steps to protect your privacy, such as adjusting your TV's settings and being cautious of voice recognition features. 📚 Tech Warrior's Learning Hub offers valuable resources to help you navigate the world of smart devices and protect your digital footprint. Rewired: Privacy in the Age of Surveillance In a hyperconnected world, privacy is becoming harder to safeguard. Every app we use, website we visit, and even device we interact with is collecting data on us—often without our full understanding. Did you know that the average person’s data is collected over 1,000 times a day by various apps, services, and devices? From facial recognition in public spaces to the constant tracking of your online activity by companies like Google and Facebook, surveillance technologies are becoming more sophisticated. The information they gather can be used for targeted ads, tracking purchases, or even profiling your preferences. For example, the rise of smart home devices like Amazon Echo and Google Home means that these companies not only know your search habits but also have access to your home environment. While these devices bring convenience, they also raise questions about who has access to your private moments. As we embrace the benefits of connected technology, how much of our privacy are we sacrificing? Are we comfortable living in a world where our every move can be tracked, analyzed, and monetized? #Rewired #DataPrivacy #TechAndSecurity #Surveillance

Smart TV manufacturing companies withdraw security support after 18 months https://lnkd.in/eKdi9JZv Next time when you are planning to buy a Smart TV, please be aware that most reputed manufactures withdraw security support after 12 to 16 months or at the most 18 months. Meaning, the Television gadget touted to be smart will be vulnerable to hackers launching sophistication driven cyber-attacks. Which?, a Britain-based privacy rights company, was the firm that launched a study on this note and announced openly that TV brands withdraw support before the actual expected lifespan of a smart TV say 6-7 years.
