𝘞𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘤𝘭𝘪𝘱 On 𝐃𝐚𝐲 4 of the Market Access Upgrade Program 𝐌𝐀𝐑𝐊𝐔𝐏 𝐈𝐈 𝐊𝐄𝐍𝐘𝐀, we honed our skills in breaking the crust, following the SCA - Cupping Protocols. This step is vital for evaluating a coffee’s aroma and flavor profile. Here’s the process we followed: 𝐂𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬: When we added hot water to ground coffee, a crust formed on the surface, trapping the coffee’s aromatic gases and oils. 𝐁𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭: After 3-4 minutes of steeping, we used a spoon to gently break the crust, releasing the intense aromas hidden beneath the surface. 𝐒𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐞: As we broke the crust, we leaned in to fully take in the fragrance. This step helped us identify keynotes in the coffee’s flavor, from fruitiness to floral elements. 𝐑𝐞𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐫𝐮𝐬𝐭: Once we assessed the aroma, we carefully removed the remaining grounds, leaving the liquid clear for tasting. Perfecting this technique is essential for coffee professionals who want to truly understand the sensory qualities of each cup. This hands-on experience deepened our appreciation for the complexity of coffee. #CoffeeCupping #BreakingTheCrust #MARKUPKenya #SCAProtocols #CoffeeAroma #CoffeeTasting #CoffeeIndustry #SensorySkills #ProfessionalDevelopment #sumseroncoffee Torch Coffee Kahawa 1893 CoffeeUtake Coffee KiMMA COFFEE

Medium roast coffee is often considered the best option by many coffee enthusiasts for several reasons. The medium roasting process allows the coffee beans to retain a balanced flavor profile, combining the acidity and sweetness of the beans. This type of roast also preserves the original characteristics of the coffee beans, providing a rich and aromatic taste without overpowering the natural flavors. Additionally, medium roast coffee tends to have a higher caffeine content compared to darker roasts, making it a popular choice for those looking for a flavorful yet energizing cup of coffee. Overall, the balanced and versatile nature of medium roast coffee makes it a favorite among coffee lovers worldwide.

How is the Origin of coffee affect coffee test? The origin of coffee can make a significant difference in the taste, aroma, and quality of the coffee . Different regions have different climate, soils , altitude and processing methods that affect the flavor profile of the coffee beans. For example the Ugandan Arabica are known for their smoother, sweeter taste with flavor notes of Chocolate and sugar and they often also have hints of fruits of barries while the Brazilian coffees are typically full bodied and chocolatey . A coffee test also known as cupping is a method of evaluating the quality and characteristics of different coffees by brewing, smelling and tasting them. A coffee taste test can help you compare and contrast the flavors of coffee from different Origins as well as identifying defects or flaws in the beans and can also help you discover your personal preferences and find the best coffee for you ☕️

Which has the most caffeine? Light roast or dark roast? This is a somewhat controversial topic in coffee, as some roasters will tell you that light roasts have the most caffeine. While other roasters will tell you, the difference is negligible. The logic is that the longer you roast coffee, the more caffeine you lose. Therefore, light roasts have more caffeine than dark roasts. The truth? Time doesn't matter; size does. The caffeine levels are less related to roasting time and more about bean size. When you roast beans darker, the beans get larger; therefore, there is less caffeine. When you roast beans lighter, the beans are smaller than on a dark roast. Therefore, you get more beans (more caffeine) on a light roast. Overall, if you're drinking coffee for the taste, this choice comes down to your preference. If you're drinking coffee for the caffeine, and every little bit helps, a light roast is the best choice.

When it comes to brewing coffee, getting the temperature right is key to achieving the perfect balance of flavors. Using excessively hot water can lead to over-extraction, which results in an overpowering presence of bitter notes, overshadowing the coffee's natural sweetness. This leads to a bitter, acrid, or burnt taste profile. On the flip side, using water that is too cool will result in under-extraction. This means that while you may draw out the acidic elements, you won't capture the sweet or bitter compounds needed to create a harmonious flavor. The end result is coffee that tastes sour or lacks the robustness expected. Achieving the ideal brew temperature is essential to unlock the full potential of your coffee beans, ensuring a delightful and well-balanced cup of coffee. #boutiquecoffeeatwork #coffeemachine #peakperformer #peakbusiness
