This has a huge impact on the wellbeing of physicians, other professionals, and office staff. You hear a lot about the profit issue. What you don’t hear about is how it affects the health care workforce. All you need to do is talk to someone who works in this environment to understand. Well-being is part of the quadruple aim of health care. There is a national plan to address workforce wellbeing. This issue needs to be addressed as part of the problem.

Clinical career options for general internal medicine physicians are extremely broad and flexible. Two of the most recognizable types of practice pursued by general internal medicine physicians are primary care general internal medicine in which the internal medicine physician cares for patients longitudinally, throughout their health journey and provides preventive, acute, and chronic care, most often in the ambulatory setting, and hospital medicine ("hospitalist") in which clinical work is focused on caring for patients requiring hospital-level care. Emergency Physician / Medical Expert Witness / Medical Malpractice Physician Consultant / Pre-litigation case reviews for merit / Deposition and trial strategy and prep
Cognitive bias can be a common pitfall in emergency medicine clinical practice. Providers in the emergency department must be vigilant against cognitive bias, which can lead to medical errors. One form of cognitive bias that providers in the ED often encounter is anchoring bias, where a provider fixates on an incorrect diagnosis based on the workup of a previous provider. It's crucial to avoid falling into this trap when treating patients in the ED. Returning patients with the same complaint can pose a challenge. While it may be tempting to stick to the previous diagnosis, it's essential to approach each case with a fresh perspective. Taking the time to reevaluate the patient and actively guarding against anchoring bias can prevent serious consequences. In my expert witness consulting work, I have seen numerous cases where medical errors stemmed from anchoring bias, underscoring the importance of recognizing this possibility in clinical practice. Remember, the next time a patient returns to your overcrowded ED for a repeat visit for the same complaint, step off the cognitive treadmill of pattern recognition and reassess the patient with a fresh lens. Let's prioritize patient safety and strive to provide the best possible care in our overcrowded EDs. #EmergencyMedicine #MedicalErrorPrevention #AnchoringBias #ClinicalPractice #EmergencyMedicineExpertWitness #MedicalChartReview

An inference: Out of all medical practices I consider General Practice to be the toughest, not only because of the variety of cases showing up to you, but for most GPs working in very less resourceful areas and treating underprivileged patients, without proper financial backing. They can't afford wide array of diagnostics and this is where physical examination comes to play. But thanks to the evolving system, the art of clinical and physical examination is fading fast in this arena of Evidence Based system making healthcare less affordable. Thoughts and comments are welcomed. #healthcare#MBBS#physician
