Rather than meeting people at last month's #Eurosense2024 conference in Dublin, I was unfortunately holed-up in a Dublin hotel room following a COVID diagnosis. Thankfully, my excellent #Ipsos colleagues Josef Zach and Dominic Brown were unaffected, and able to share two posters on how we are leveraging Human Intelligence + Artificial Intelligence. One of these examples showed how by training our #InnoExplorer model on consumer responses from a blind product test, we were able to identify and generate new concepts for new category innovations, which testing showed have good potential in market! Walking the floor at #IMTS2024 is always a rewarding experience, and this year was no exception. Congratulations to AMT - The Association For Manufacturing Technology for another fantastic show advancing the industrial space. Three key takeaways for me from the event, primarily focused on industrial software, were: #AI is the buzzword of the show. If we talk about the term most discussed at the event, #AI is a clear winner. Industrial leaders must avoid shiny object syndrome and prioritize a holistic operations and data strategy to maximize AI investments. #Workforce development remains a critical theme. Expect significant movement in the software space, including acquisitions, funding for current CFW players, and new entrants. Investment firms are increasingly interested in industrial software. The presence of numerous investment executives at #IMTS2024 is a positive sign for innovation in this sector. Follow LNS Research for more insights on these topics.

ELIV 2024 Wrap-up After two fantastic days at the #ELIV2024, here my thoughts on the key takeaways: 1. Speed There were numerous presentations about the need to increase Time-to-Market to match Chinese Competitors. 18-20 months lead-times for a completely new vehicle from Kick-off to SOP are the target. Existing matrix organizations with multiple hierarchy and decision levels do not support this. What seems to be needed are innovative project structures, outside the "big" series engineering organizations. The traditional way of development has reached its limits. 2. R&D and IT SDVs are based on end-to-end functions which cut across organizational silos. What we need are empowered project teams - and we learned that Traton calls them Flows - which combine functions across departments based on a unified toolchain. 3. Artificial Intelligence AI was front and center in many presentations and discussions. A wealth of ideas and concepts on how to make processes faster and more efficient. Few ideas on how to create new businesses and revenue with AI. First examples were shown, mostly around voice assistants which offer a seamless, personalized user experience. 4. SW and HW Increasing amounts of onboard SW (numbers of 40 GB were named) require high-performance onboard HW stacks, esp. in centralized and zonal architectures. Next generation E/E architectures will be build on chiplet systems to fulfill always on requirements while managing energy consumption.
