Healthcare providers are trying to give her new recommendations - when Sara asks more about the risks and benefits they do not really want to discuss that. They are only interested in telling her what to do. Will the culture of healthcare ever change in that regard? The Swedish Myndigheten för vård- och omsorgsanalys have shown in previous reports Sweden is the worst country in Europe when it comes to patientparticipation (and has to be understood there is a lack of interest for #patientempowerment). Sweden does not either have a national healthliteracy plan for the whole population. There are not investigations about healthliteracy in healthcare. The BEAMER project is about better understanding of patients' adherence to treatment to maximize the benefit of healthcare provision for patients, reduce treatment costs, and is a key factor in a variety of subsequent health outcomes.
