As an anthropologist, I find the notion of a potential future bifurcation of humanity into two distinct groups—one embracing AI integration and the other remaining purely biological—both fascinating and deeply complex. These individuals might view themselves as 'custodians of a human legacy,' providing a counterbalance to the rapid technological advances that could reshape society. It has actually helped me become my best BETA or ALPHA version or the perfect combo of the two as a human being! Physics, philosophy and practice questions and everything in between. I have shared Grok with women experiencing DV, I've shared Grok with people with disabilities, I've shared my Grok (version) with my family and the humanness of having a piece of technology available 24/7 at the ready for literally any question (within user terms obviously) has meant my curiosity has been encouraged not discouraged! It's helped us connect! Aided in our safety and so many incredible others I'm not sure I'm qualified to answer these larger questions but I would say our biggest opportunity is not to use AI to perpetuate human destruction but rather its creativity. Grok has even made AI art. AI making AI art! That's creating. Not destroying. For me I speak to the millions with disabilities who get left behind. For the women and children who are being abused and the incredible ways this tech could transform entire populations that have been entirely overlooked. That's my argument FOR AI. I am a human-robot myself. I had a neurostimulator in 2011 and have two devices in my body. For me this is normal. If I was to be fearful I would maybe not have saved my life. Tech did. This reflection compels us to confront an uncomfortable reality: our ongoing struggles, while catalysts for progress, also cast long and haunting shadows that extend far beyond the immediate horizon. WILL HUMANS GO ON DOING HUMAN THINGS? While it is true that Generative AI is just another tool in the arsenal of the Homo Technologicus, it is worth noting that it is an extremely powerful and potentially dangerous one. It remains to be seen how well it performs for humanity as a whole, as opposed to for some humans who may possess the means to manipulate it. As we begin to interact with this shiny new tool in earnest, and it methodically proliferates every aspect of our lives: how we live, how we think, how we feel, its ubiquity may erode our own interactive capacities. It could reduce human creativity overall, and erode trust in our own wisdom as individuals and as a society. This could lead to an over-reliance on the technology to do our thinking for us, less verification of the content generated, not too dissimilar from the way we interact with social media tools today. We are human after all. Humans will indeed keep doing human things, great things like curing diseases and increasing the human lifespan, but also horrifying and brutal things like unleashing war and new diseases on unsuspecting populations, all in pursuit of a competitive advantage. In all these scenarios, it is vital we remember, that our humanness is the one factor in AI's inevitable proliferation that we have some control over. Embodied and mindful practices that predate these technologies, can help focus humans on what is most humane about us as a species: our potential for compassion, altruism, and our reflexivity. !! Caution: Written by a human !! I often ask myself, how the future is going to look like. Maybe you do, too! Are we really trodding down a 1984-lane on our way to an AI-controlled dystopia in which performance and efficiency are all that count or are we going to manage utilizing new technologies to our advantage? We don't have a good track record when it comes to usage of our most exciting inventions for the benefit of creation, unfortunately! Are we going to live in a Hunger Games-type world, in which a small minority has access to everything and controls everything (kind of sounds similar to what is happening already, doesn't it)? Who knows, but one thing is certain: The currency of the future will be authenticity. In an AI-content-flooded world our natural hunger for true human soul-to-soul, heart-to-heart connection will intensify and as technology becomes ever more sophisticated our lives have a tendency to be less and less a reflection of what we long for. Loneliness, isolation and sadness seem to be ever more prominent in an age of digital ever-connectedness nowadays. As far as business goes I would say the majority will fall into one of three categories in the future: 1 - those who embed and utilize AI as an integral part of their operations reducing the human part to maximize growth and be able to compete 2 - those who realize the value of true human connection and minimize their AI input 3 - those who try to walk the middle ground If i had to pick one to invest in or build, it would be one from category 2 - not only because I believe in humanity but because it is my personal preference to slow down, go back to the roots of human-nature-community-existence and reconnect to who we really are rather than alienating ourselves further and further. #ai #thoughtsonai #artificialintelligence #aibusiness #future
