During #NationalApprenticeshipWeek we see lots of different sectors represented, but often reinforcing gender stereotypes. Many youngsters are pushed towards apprenticeships simply because they fit the profile of those who’ve gone before them. This leads to oversupply in some sectors (like hair and beauty) and under supply in others, like automotive. Our #MyApprenticeshipStory aims to attract a much wider talent pool by showing that women can thrive in all types of automotive apprenticeships. That also makes young men who are not the profile we historically attract, think again about our opportunities. 👇

Today, S2IC had the privilege of presenting an information session on the DoD SkillBridge Program to Wesco Government Partner Network (thank you to all the participants who joined!) The more awareness we can bring to the #SkillBridge program, the better, so we appreciate Wesco providing us the time and platform to share. During the session, we covered not only what the #DoDSkillBridge Program is, but the win-win benefits it provides to both servicemembers and industry hosts. Servicemembers get a head start on their next career (up to 6 months prior to separation). Industry hosts get first access to a quality talent pipeline, and up to 6 months to train future/potential employees in-house (with all salary and benefits covered by DoD). Additionally, we outlined how S2IC simplifies both the enrollment process and program participation by assuming the full administrative burden for our Industry Partners, and navigating the SkillBridge process side-by-side with servicemember candidates. At S2IC, we've found that SkillBridge internships lead to successful post-service career matches, and successful transitions lead to better outcomes for veterans. S2IC is an ally for both transitioning military members and our industry Partners, making SkillBridge accessible, straightforward, and productive for all parties. Had a great time yesterday hosting Berton Mahardja and Robert Sanger from the SEMI Foundation. It is always exciting to talk about the industry and outlook of where this journey will take us. The big theme and focus for our collaboration is focused around building the pipeline for the next generation of Semi folks. Very excited to hear about the apprenticeship programs and various other collaborations with local colleges. I appreciate and am grateful for the opportunity to collaborate and share ideas and strategies with the thought leaders in the SEMI Foundation. It’s always a privilege to talk about the strategies that have worked for us in Operations at Onto Innovation. Finding the right talent is key for our industry due to the complexity of capital equipment manufacturing. We have a diverse team working on the Manufacturing floor from folks that have come to us with no experience or formal education to Industry veterans with 25+ years experience and New College Grads with various ENG disciplines. This top performing team enables us to meet the challenges we face in this industry. In the past few months, our team at Feather Softwares has been on an incredible journey, and I am thrilled to share our highlights with you all. We had the privilege of conducting orientations and workshops in several colleges across the district. These sessions were meticulously designed to illuminate various domains, underscoring the significance of up-skilling, internships, and placement awareness. The heartening feedback we received from both students and faculty has been a tremendous source of motivation. The outcome of these events is nothing short of remarkable. Our reputation has significantly expanded within the district, attracting a wave of enthusiastic students who eagerly sought to upskill in their chosen domains.. Perhaps the most significant highlight is our collaboration with esteemed institutions like Udaya School of Engineering, PSN Institute of Technology & Science, and Ponjesly College of Engineering I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Heads of CSE Department, Placement Officers, and Principals of these colleges for their unwavering support in making this collaboration possible.. The ultimate beneficiaries of this collaboration are the students themselves, who now have early access to our limited-seat internships and value-added courses within their own academic institutions. Behind these achievements stands our dedicated operations team, led by Sugirtha Feather (Team Leader) and supported by myself & Ms. Anjana Devi (Our very own 'Jack of All Trades'). The synergy, chemistry, and harmonious collaboration have been the bedrock of our success. It's essential to emphasize that without each of us playing our unique roles, this journey would not have been possible. Together, we've nurtured a culture of teamwork, dedication, and innovation that has propelled us to new heights. As I look ahead, remember this inspiring quote by Eleanor Roosevelt: "The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams." To achieve greatness, we must continue to push boundaries, embrace change, and take calculated risks in pursuit of our dreams.
