The morning of Day One and we’ve already learned so much - especially from Aunty Norma Ingram as our Welcomer to Country - specifically to the land of the Bidigal people of the Eora Nation. Aunty Norma reminded us that for Aboriginal people - just as for PIANC people, water is of crucial cultural importance as is connection! They have cared for this country for 65,000 years - successfully! Yama is the word she gave us to use today - as a greeting, an acknowledgement of another’s deep presence, and an enquiry into their wellbeing. So Yama to all attendees at our booked out PIANC Sydney Conference today and our colleagues back in the office or on site! #PIANC #WATERBORNETRANSPORTINFRASTRUCTURE #alwayswasalwayswillbe

Greetings from Slovenia! I am glad to share my incredible experience as part of the European Solidarity Corps volunteering camp at Mladinski Center Idrija. 🌿🌏 Let me share with you few things I have found worth writing about this experience! 🤝 Unity in Diversity: Eleven passionate individuals from diverse backgrounds have converged here, each bringing their unique perspectives and talents. Together, we’re weaving a tapestry of collaboration, learning, and growth. 🔨 Hands-On Learning: From dismantling pallets to crafting furniture, we’ve immersed ourselves in practical projects. The buzz of power tools, the smell of freshly cut wood—it’s more than just carpentry; it’s a symphony of shared knowledge. 🛠️ 🌱 Intellectual Exploration: Beyond the physical work, we’ve engaged in stimulating discussions. The concept of solidarity has transcended borders, enriching our understanding of global challenges and solutions. 🌐 🌟 Enriching Character and Network: This experience isn’t just about hammering nails or planting flowers; it’s about forging lasting connections. I’ve met incredible people, learned about their cultures, and expanded my network. 🤝 🔍 Looking Ahead: As I gaze at the sun-kissed terrace we’re revitalizing, I can’t help but think of the future. These moments will shape my perspective, fuel my passion for community service, and inspire me to seek out similar opportunities. 🌅 #Solidarity #Volunteering #LifeExperience #GlobalCommunity #MladinskiCenterIdrija https://lnkd.in/dsxCFDeP

❤️ It seems like everyone’s posting about their wins on LinkedIn, so we thought—why not join the fun? Here’s ours: Visit Tallinn team is truly honored to have received warm recognition from our #Estonian #peers at the national #tourism conference PÄRI in #Viljandi for our viral 2023 #Christmas video. The video was awarded the title of #Marketing Act of the Year. It’s even more special knowing that this achievement came from a spark of genius and the courage to think outside the box—using zero budget and only existing material—making it a testament to the power of #authentic #storytelling. Our Christmas video was the only winter-themed content released during the height of summer, providing a cool escape for audiences suffering from the scorching temperatures. It resonated deeply, offering a refreshing reminder of the magic of winter. The post went viral, garnering 7.9 million views so far and bringing tens of thousands of new followers to our channels. This recognition is a reminder of how impactful it can be to share #genuine and #surprising perspectives. We encourage everyone to take bold steps in highlighting the uniqueness of their #destinations, #companies or #endevors. Tell your story with creativity and authenticity—you never know how far it might go! And for all our Estonian speaking followers, here's a little interview that our marketing director Helena Tšistova-Pohlak gave to Visit Estonia before the conference. #VisitTallinn #VisitEstonia #ExploreTallinn #ExploreEstonia #TourismMarketing #Christmas #WinterDestination #Storytelling #DestinationMarketing #Authenticity #Matkailu #Viro #LähiMatkailu https://lnkd.in/dX_z8KEd

#Op_ed: #Ashenda: The importance of honoring cultural heritage in its authentic form In his op-ed, Abdisa A. Kalbesa, a medical science student at Edith Cowan University in Australia, discusses the importance of preserving cultural traditions in their authentic form, focusing on the Ashenda festival celebrated by the #Tegaru people. The piece emphasizes the significance of respecting cultural heritage without appropriation or exploitation. Abdisa argues that traditions like Ashenda should be appreciated for their intrinsic value to the communities that practice them, rather than being altered or commercialized. The article concludes by calling for the celebration of cultural diversity while preserving traditions in their original state. Abdisa suggests that this approach allows for a deeper understanding and respect for the cultural identities represented by these practices. https://lnkd.in/emNwk4Mv

The great intangible Intangibles matter a lot in delivering results. One of those intangibles is faith. It opens doors, equips leadership, and channels little resources to do big things. No SME or large corporate can survive without the quality. No campaign can be mobilized with massive, irrational expectations if faith wasn't the vector at play. A few sundays ago I got a call from the office that a team of 4 individuals would like to see me to discuss a #Landrover #Festival that they were organizing in #Arusha . Just 4 organizers, and they met every Tuesdays for a couple months to draw the itinerary, bring every piece together, and see how they can turn the city upside down. The orginal intent of the event was to attract not more than a quarter the amount of Landrovers that showed up. Considering that just 2 months ago the event had less than half confirmed participants, it took the faith of a leader to set the bar even higher (1000 landrovers) and help the team make the jump. Cudos to RC Paul Makonda, the few resources summoned from the onset, and the record-breaking parade outcome that culminates this Nyerere Day. 3rd morning of the event and more than a million hashtags, over 5M impressions and views across all media platforms with huge PR value stacked in global media distribution. The crowning of it all is that more than 200 of the drivers are non Tanzanians who will see the charm of Arusha, stick around to circulate the currency, and return to their communities to talk about it! If faith is the capital you have to begin with, you might not need anything else! That's why it's the great intangible. #Tanzania #Tourism #Teamwork #Faith

Today, as we celebrate Defender of the Fatherland Day in Kazakhstan, it's a poignant reminder of the resilience and strength that resides within us all, especially during challenging times. At DAR Group, we took a moment to honor the dedication and commitment of the men who contribute tirelessly to our company's success. Our celebration wasn't just about festivities; it was a reflection of the collective spirit and camaraderie that defines our workplace culture. From engaging interactive games to testing our strength with the punching bag, every moment was filled with laughter, encouragement, and a sense of unity. But beyond the celebrations, today's events sparked a deeper reflection on the nature of motivation. How do we navigate the highs and lows of our professional journey? How do we channel our frustrations into fuel for growth? And perhaps most importantly, how do we inspire others to do the same? For me, the answer lies in finding balance and purpose in every task we undertake. Whether it's hitting deadlines with precision or tackling challenges head-on, there's a sense of fulfillment that comes from knowing we're contributing to something greater than ourselves. As I took a swing at the punching bag, it wasn't just about testing my physical strength; it was a symbolic gesture of resilience and determination. It reminded me that setbacks are just temporary roadblocks on the path to success. So, as we honor the defenders of our homeland today, let's also celebrate the resilience and determination within each of us. Let's harness our collective strength to overcome obstacles, inspire others, and forge ahead with unwavering determination. Because it's not just about celebrating victories; it's about embracing the journey and emerging stronger, together. #Darlean #OnePunchMan
