Did you know that the HIFI trial is the largest prospective study ever conducted on focal therapy, comparing radical surgery to HIFU? At the recent #AUA24 Annual Meeting in San Antonio, Pr Pascal Rischmann presented an abstract detailing the study's findings. Notably, the salvage treatment-free survival rate was significantly higher in the HIFU arm at 90.1%, compared to 87.6% in the radical prostatectomy (RP) arm. Great start to the academic year! Presented today at Montefiore Einstein Neurosurgery Grand Rounds on #frailty and implications for oncologic surgery. Defined as a state of increased vulnerability to stressors, cancer patients are at a very high risk of being frail, particularly patients with spinal metastases. Ongoing research highlights the importance of incorporating this concept in the systemic assessment of patients.
