While the spotlight often shines on the players, we would like to turn it on the unsung heroes of sports events - the structural hollow sections (SHS). These vital components ensure the strength, durability, and stunning architecture of the world's most iconic stadia. Our tubes can be found for example in the roof structure, the grandstands or simply as handrails. Structural hollow sections enable complex steel constructions by: 🔹 Supporting massive structures with minimal material 🔹 Allowing for innovative and sleek design 🔹 Providing unmatched stability and safety Next time you're cheering for your favorite team, take a moment to appreciate the engineering marvels that make these experiences possible! #Engineering #FootballStadia #StructuralHollowSections #Construction #HiddenHeroes

Brick bonds showcase the artistic and structural diversity in masonry. The common #FlemishBond, with alternating headers and stretchers, balances aesthetics and strength. A #RunningBond, where bricks align in a continuous pattern, simplifies construction but may lack stability. For added visual appeal, the #BasketweaveBond interlaces vertical and horizontal pairs of bricks. Meanwhile, the #HerringboneBond, characterized by a V-shaped pattern, adds complexity and robustness. These bonds not only influence the appearance of structures but also impact their stability and durability, demonstrating the crucial role they play in architectural design and engineering. #Brickwork #ConstructionDesign https://lnkd.in/gjaZrrgG Marcio Leão Parastoo Azad Nitesh Kumar Purohit Pareekh Jain Dr.Subramanian, Ph.D., FNAE, F.ASCE, M.ACI Narayanan Felipe Ochoa Cornejo 👨🏻🏫🇨🇱 Yeo Chee Min Oliver Jones Tanvir Hussain Prashant Srivastava Civil Er.Jai Kumar Tiwari Nitin Gupta Florian Palatini Grant LeBeau, E.I.T. A few extra tweaks with shading and background, and the digital sketch is ready. To be honest, it took me a bit more time than it would have if I had done it by hand using my favorite Winsor and Newton markers, but nonetheless, the fun remains the same when you create something from scratch. #sketching #sketchbook #sketch #drawing #handdrawn #structuralengineering #structuraldesign #structuralengineer #chimney #architecture #architects #architecturedesign #construction #steelstructures #steel #alterations Elite Designers

This week’s Team Talk focussed on the deep topic of phenomenology. If architecture is meant to move our emotions, how do we study the phenomena of our subjective experiences? Our discussion included excerpts from Peter Zumthor’s book Atmospheres, as he attempts to describe the sensation of inhabiting the ideal courtyard. This conversation renewed our belief that great architecture is meant to be felt, not just seen. What are your favorite ways for architecture to engage the senses? This marked my initial in-depth exploration into Grasshopper. In 2009, I decided to participate in a design competition centered around a campus entrance. Unbeknownst to the judging panel, the design was the outcome of a parametric model. I've since dubbed it the "Parametric Entrance." The project's foundation lay in perceiving the "entrance" not merely as a gate but as a design challenge intricately linked to the entire project area. The visual impact on the topography materialized through a tunnel-like structure comprising a sequence of arches. These arches, formed by high-performance concrete beams, traverse the entrance area and adapt to various requirements, encompassing pedestrian access, security facilities, and vehicular entry. The design incorporates considerations for public transportation, student shuttle stations, a bicycle park, and a green wall. 🌉 Exploring the Marvels of Bridge Trusses! 🌉 Hey friends! Today, I want to share something fascinating with you all: bridge trusses! 🧐 These incredible engineering structures are the backbone of many bridges, providing strength, stability, and aesthetics. Let's dive in and learn a bit more about them! Bridge trusses are frameworks made up of interconnected triangular units. These triangles are super important because they distribute the load and forces across the entire structure. By using triangles, bridge trusses can withstand heavy loads while remaining lightweight and efficient. What's truly remarkable is that there are various types of bridge trusses, each with its unique design and characteristics. Some common types include the Pratt truss, Warren truss, Howe truss, and the majestic bowstring truss. 🏗️ Each design has its own advantages, like maximizing strength or accommodating longer spans. Besides their functional aspects, bridge trusses often add an architectural beauty to the landscapes they grace. Their elegant patterns create a captivating sight, whether you're driving over them or simply admiring them from afar. Next time you cross a bridge, take a moment to appreciate the intricate truss system supporting it. It's an impressive testament to human ingenuity and engineering prowess! 💪 Feel free to share any interesting bridge truss experiences or photos in the comments below. Let's celebrate the art and science behind these engineering marvels! 📸✨ #BridgeTrusses #EngineeringWonders #TriangularStrength #BridgingTheGap

As an architect I usually make sketches and try to capture the life around me. It really helps my mind to think differently and generate ideas while designing. Do you usually make sketches? if yes how does it help you? #Sketching #architecture #surrounding #observation #traveling #art #urbansketches

Playing with roofs in this 2000sft farmhouse is a balancing act between two project goals. 1. Creating a sense of spaciousness within by expansion of volumes to embrace the outdoors. 2. Visually grounding the building with the earth plane so it doesn't dominate the setting. This exploration becomes all the more critical when working with flat terrains as in this project. Schematic models done physically to better understand the dynamic between the slopes and flat roofs when used in tandem. #architecture #modeling #earthconstruction #vernacular #contemporary #spaceandform #construction #physicalmodel https://lnkd.in/g8tpVE-x
