Our United Way network is committed to building more equitable and resilient communities where every Pennsylvanian has the opportunity to thrive, and PA 211’s mission is to act as a navigator for our neighbors to find available services that address gaps when they are homeless or at risk of homelessness. Those services simply don’t exist in adequate supply to meet the demand today, and lack of affordable housing is the root cause of homelessness. Criminalizing the act of living on the streets and in public places does not address the root cause. Skyrocketing rents and barriers to homeownership require policy change and multi-sector partnerships at the local, state and national level. Accordingly, we invite our partner organizations, businesses, and elected officials to join us in a commitment to action to identify short term solutions and to break down barriers that stand in the way of housing stability. It is now more important than ever to pull together to focus on housing security, to coordinate local resources, and to address the need for safe and affordable housing solutions. UWP and PA 211 are committed to creating a future with safe and affordable housing for all. In 2023, 48% of all PA 211 referrals were for housing & shelter services, demonstrating that we still have work to do. Across the United Way and PA 211 Networks, we are working every day to connect people to short-term solutions and break down the barriers that stand in the way of housing stability. When you decide to sell your home don’t settle for less. You deserve the best! Denise Wilhite Thomas at Keller William’s Beverly Hills will provide that and more.
Charity begins at home, I can not believe that Oakland California has been stripped of its Sports Teams which is a major revenue source. This appears to be by design, we can do something! and not stand idly by while families suffer, and funding for the municipalities such as The Police Department, Fire Department, and City Services are threatened. Why is the name of Oakland Airport being changed to include another City? Oakland is a beautiful City blessed with many natural resources and a rich culture that can stand on its own. So please don't be fooled into looking at only what is lacking, our voices should be demanding resources be brought back to the City. A new report shows that 77% of employers worldwide are finding it difficult to fill positions for Tech workers. Therefore, it should be a strong push to bring to Oakland, large corporations, and financial institutions, who pledge training. Anchor stores with industries in Aerospace, Technology, and manufacturing. Make the city attractive to Sports teams there are more than just one. So please consider supporting this cause which gives Oakland residents a choice in the future. End Oakland's Decline We are pleased to announce the formation of SOS Oakland, which is committed to restoring Oakland to the peaceful and prosperous city we love. This year SOS Oakland is focused on the November 5, 2024 general election. Our goal is to help elect a City Council that will develop and implement pragmatic policies and programs to solve Oakland’s public safety problems and reverse the city’s decline. www.sosoaklandca.com
