So summer school holidays are here, and wanderlust is in the air! It doesn’t surprise me that Singapore Airlines remains in the top three as the world’s second-best airline in SKYTRAX's latest rankings of 2024!
Our family has been Singapore Airlines's hardcore fans ever since we moved here a decade ago. There are so many reasons why we love it, apart from the brand reputation there's also their service excellence, cabin crew standards, innovative cabin products, culinary experiences, safety and reliability, etc.
One thing that really tickles my travel bone about Singapore Airlines is their knack for turning something as serious as safety into a mini blockbuster. I have seen a few brilliantly produced airline safety videos in the past, e.g. Air Newzealand’s “The Hobbit”, or one from Virgin America, just to name a few, but the one made by Singapore Airlines in 2017 has been my all time favorite (video link in the comments).
So, why are their safety videos such a hit? It’s not just about keeping us safe (though that’s crucial of course), it’s about taking us on a journey, quite literally as the viewers follow the Singapore Girl as she travels to familiar landmarks such as Boat Quay, The Intan Peranakan Home Museum, River Safari, Haji Lane, Adventure Cove WaterparkTM, Henderson Waves, Capitol Theatre and Gardens by the Bay.
This work was a result of a bilateral agreement signed between SIA and Singapore Tourism Board in June 2017 aimed at jointly promoting inbound travel to and through Singapore, and showcasing the city state to a global audience. By blending practical info with a dash of cultural charm, Singapore Airlines transforms the mundane into a travel highlight.
