Forthcoming advances in electric vehicles (EVs) are the focus of a new white paper released by the Vehicle Remarketing Association (VRA). Called “The Future of Electric Vehicle Technology”, it has been written by battery electrochemist Euan McTurk, creator and presenter of Plug Life Television, a YouTube channel about EVs. It covers topics including diversification of battery chemistries, longer-range batteries, more efficient packaging, lighter batteries, more efficient and cheaper batteries and motors, more ethical and safer batteries, plug and play charging, faster and wireless charging, battery swapping, 48-volt auxiliary systems, AI and electrochemistry, and vehicle to grid charging. Philip Nothard, VRA chair, said: “This the fourth in our series of white papers on EVs and remarketing and this is an area that remains probably the most commonly discussed within our sector and we have aimed to help make those dialogues as well informed as possible. Certainly, we believe that they have helped to make detailed and accurate information in this area much more widely available and we’ve received some excellent feedback. “This latest instalment is in some ways the most interesting, looking at likely short and medium term advances in EV technology. Much of this involves batteries, of course, but we also look at infrastructure and general EV operation. A lot is likely to happen in the next few years, and the document provides a really good overview. “Certainly, I learnt a lot from reading it and I expect that others in the remarketing sector will feel the same.” Details about downloading the new white paper and the others in the VRA EV series can be found at https://lnkd.in/dANxed8g. https://lnkd.in/dc7zfmsa

Creator of high-performing teams | Engineering & Commercial Management | Electrific Powertrains Expert
Follow our Trax - We know many high performance (and pricey) cars already deploy multi-motor torque vectoring strategies, but Traxial yokeless axial flux motors allow the systems to be deployed into more mainstream performance cars. Mercedes-Benz have demonstrated the benefits with the new G-Class Electric on ICE (frozen water just to be clear!) https://lnkd.in/eFbckt3P. #electricvehicle #ev #powertrain
⚡𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝘅: The concept of torque vectoring for EVs: Software can control two (or more) motors separately to adapt the vehicle’s performance to the circumstances and the driver’s intentions. Each motor produces individual torque for the wheel it’s connected to. This will result in more driving stability, agility, and safety in several circumstances. 🤔 Read more about this topic through our blog post written by Francisco Dias, our Commercial Application Engineer. 🔗Check out our full article in the comments. #torquevectoring #axialflux #magnax #traxial #emotor #automotive #bev #powertrain

As previous post mentioned, KopherBit KCU can be used as VCU (Vehicle Control Unit), which integrates powertrain system, energy management, X-by-wire control and other subsystems. Its main functions include guarantee of vehicle operation, management of driving system and battery status, and fault diagnosis. The performance of VCU directly influence the operation of EVs, and nowadays VCU development tend to be highly integrated. KopherBit KCU is intelligently integrated and can be applied in several scenarios, reducing customer’s pressure of searching for various controllers.

⚡𝗙𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗧𝗿𝗮𝘅: Interesting blog article I wrote upon joining Traxial that aligns perfectly with recent advancements like the electric Mercedes G-Class conquering ice and other released high-performance EVs. Our short-length axial flux technology could be a key factor in enabling compact and power-dense systems.

Here's a "back to the future" moment - look at where we all are in Electrification - with most/many full line OEM's able to work in this space. Volt was the first production range extended plug-in EV - essentially series hybrid. Called E-flex at the time , there was a fuel cell version in the original architecture as well as the possibility of other generators - SI ICE was the clear path to production. Definitely a large disrupter during a tough time for the industry. This program took EV-1 and the 2 mode hybrid beginnings to a new level. It brought to GM mainstream things like Li-ion battery and vertical full battery team & facilities, "modern" plug in /charging hardware, propulsion & RESS conditioning , CS/CD modes , umbrella curves , RESS durability , and other advances in the electrification space. Interesting read for sure.

Plug-in Electric Vehicle Battery Replacements Due to Failure Have Been Very Rare Since Model Year 2015 The US #DOE Vehicle Technology Office Fact of the Week #1339, April 22, 2024 reports that since MY2015, battery replacements in Plug-in #EVs have been rare at less than 1.5%. This is consistent with engineering design targets for batteries to last the life of the car. Indeed, battery failures in MY2016 and newer #PEVs would still be covered under most manufacturer's warranty. With greater numbers of PEVs and more years of data, a clearer picture should emerge on the longevity of these newer #battery packs which will be critical for long-term owners and the used PEV market. https://lnkd.in/ghiaJmn9
