🇳🇬I HAVE A DREAM THAT NIGERIA SHALL BE GREAT AGAIN🇳🇬
Part 1: Education, the Heartbeat of sustainable development (4).
B- Schools, teachers and students, the focal point of Education.
In Africa particularly in Nigeria, the relationship between schools, teachers, and students is central to the educational system, each playing a crucial role in addressing the unique challenges and opportunities within the country.
Schools in Nigeria vary significantly, ranging from well-equipped urban institutions to under-resourced rural schools. The infrastructure, availability of learning materials, and overall environment greatly influence the quality of education. For example in villages, attention is not given to education as it is in cities.
Despite these disparities, schools serve as the foundational platform for learning and community development, striving to provide education to a diverse and growing population. That's why schools must be considered as refuge for children facing diverse difficulties in their homes. Schools are like hospitals and must never appear like police stations.
Teachers in Nigeria are key to overcoming the challenges of limited resources and large class sizes. Their dedication, adaptability, and creativity are essential in delivering effective instruction. That's why a teacher must be knowledgeable and strive to become better. When a teacher stops learning, he stops being a teacher.
Continuous professional development and support for teachers are crucial to enhance their skills and keep them motivated, given the demanding conditions they often face. Teachers are not perfect. Just as doctors can fall sick, teachers can also have some strange behaviours. But what makes a good teacher is his ability to admit his short comings and work towards them.
Students in Nigeria bring diverse cultural, linguistic, and socio-economic backgrounds to the classroom. Their eagerness to learn and resilience in the face of challenges reflect the potential for growth and development. They are the result of what they receive as education from their parents, teachers and environment.
Engaging students through relevant and inclusive curricula, as well as extracurricular activities, helps in nurturing their talents and preparing them for future opportunities. For that reason, instead of judging each other let parents, teachers and schools team up for the sake of the success of the children.
The cooperation between schools, teachers, and students forms the backbone of the educational system. Addressing the systemic challenges, investing in infrastructure, supporting teacher development, and promoting an inclusive learning environment are vital for improving educational outcomes and ensuring that every Nigerian child has the opportunity to succeed regardless of their origin, gender, religion and social status.
