The average service life of boiler systems used for industrial purposes ranges from 20 to 40 years. Many measures that were previously not feasible or financially justifiable now pay off in a very short period of time. Kazántrade presents three good reasons to modernise your existing plant. #IndustrialBoiler #ServiceLife #Sustainability #Modernisation #Kazantrade #BoschIndustrial

Now we know. Jinan, the Capital of Shandong Province with a population of 9.4 million, recently completed a key portion of the world’s largest-diameter underwater shield tunnel. Using the colossal “Shanhe” shield machine, the project involved boring a 2-mile underwater section measuring 55.8 feet across. This segment is part of the 3.6-mile Jinan Huanggang Road Yellow River Crossing Tunnel, which will accommodate six lanes in a double-decker layout at speeds up to 37 mph. Crews achieved this milestone in just 110 days, setting a record for 17-meter-class shield construction, thanks to the machine’s 7,510-hp cutterhead driver. Upon final completion in 2025, the tunnel is expected to streamline travel between Jinan’s main urban center and emerging development zones across the Yellow River. The endeavor highlights modern tunneling capabilities and indicates a significant boost in regional connectivity. Credit: CTTO

On June 20, 2024, I successfully passed my final project defense. I would like to extend my gratitude to my final project advisor, Mr. Ir. Teguh Sasono, MT. and Mrs. Ratu Fenny Muldiani, M.Si. and my final project examiners, Mr Budi Suharto, S.T., M.Eng. and Mr Drs. Hedi, M.Stat., for providing guidance, feedback, and suggestions that helped me complete this final project. I'm thrilled to share that I have successfully defended my thesis project titled "Analysis of the Decline Rate of Condenser Cleanliness Factor with Cooling Using 3 and 4 Circulating Water Pumps at PLTU Cirebon Unit 1." Abstract: Fouling is a condition where material buildup or deposits clog condenser tubes, impacting the condenser's Cleanliness Factor. The number of Circulating Water Pumps (CWP) affects the flow of cooling water through the condenser. This study used data from after the Main Overhaul (MOH) until before the next MOH, from 2017 to 2019. The results showed that the cleanliness factor tends to decline over time. The decline is smaller with cooling using 4 CWPs. Cooling with 4 CWPs has a higher Reynolds number, indicating higher turbulence, which helps dislodge dirt particles from the pipe surface due to greater friction. Conversely, cooling with 3 CWPs showed the opposite effect. Therefore, I recommend the company to increase the use of scale inhibitors to prevent scaling formation, and to regularly clean the condenser using methods like the Condenser Tube Cleaning System (CTCS) to reduce fouling and scaling. I'm excited to apply the knowledge and insights gained from this project in my future endeavors. Thank you to everyone who supported me throughout this journey! #thesis #engineering #energyefficiency #coolingsystems #cleanenergy #PLTU #Cirebon #maintenance #research #teamwork

Sorg commissions Clean Melter furnace at Paraguay glass facility The Nikolaus Sorg GmbH & Co. KG Group has commissioned the world’s second Clean Melter furnace at Fabrica Paraguaya de Vidrios (FPV) in Paraguay. FPV is a manufacturer of glass #packaging in the Mercosur region. Planned and supplied by Nikolaus Sorg, the furnace is designed for a melting capacity of 140tpd and melting flint, amber and #green #glass. All furnace-specific equipment, a Sorg STW distribution channel and 2S-shaped forehearths of the type Sorg 340S+ were delivered. The Clean Melter is set up to achieve an electric share of up to 80% of the melting energy. The furnace steel was supplied and installed by Siam Furnace Construction, Thailand, a company of SKS Sorg Keramik Service GmbH (SKS). Sorg Feuerungsbau und Service was responsible for the heating up and filling of the furnace, while EME GmbH supplied the CPO 650D batch charging machines. The smooth and successful build-up and commissioning of the furnace was also a result of the good collaboration and integration of Ambev’s and AB InBev's project teams with the Sorg team. #paraguay #southamerica #industry #investment #climateaction #greenmanufacturing #engineering #manufacturing #business

#training #tunnelling #EPB This month’s Lunchtime Lecture Series will focus on’ EPB tunnelling: Environmental aspects and re-use opportunities of the conditioned muck' in collaboration with ITA-AITES WG15. The rapid development of mechanised tunnelling in the last decades has increased the tunnelling community’s focus on the environmental aspects of tunnel construction. The excavation carried out by using EPB (Earth Pressure Balance) machines often requires the use of foaming agents, specific products that are added to the medium intended to be excavated, in order to make the excavation process possible. The produced muck can be considered more than a simple “landfill material” and its re-use is strongly suggested in view of sustainable excavation and circular economy principles. However, the correct management process should be followed. This process should take into account the presence of the used additives in the mucking itself. The episode will feature the following speakers: - The conditioning phase in EPB tunnelling and the issue of muck disposal – Carmine Todaro - Environmental aspects of the conditioning phase, chemical profile of foaming agents and the biodegradation process: the Italian approach before muck re-use – Anna Barra Caracciolo - Muck: raw material for industrial production; mineralogical and chemical analysis and its use on construction sites - Robert Galler Free registration: https://lnkd.in/diWHVD_Y Can’t make it at that time? Register anyway and receive a free link to stream the episode for 24H. Thanks to the generous support of our sponsors: Herrenknecht AG, Bouygues Construction, Amberg Group

The domestic industrial base was enriched with another modern enterprise. The ENPIPE pipe production plant started its operations in the Karakul free economic zone. The ENPIPE project was implemented as part of the strategy of building a complex of auxiliary plants localised in close proximity to industrial facilities, as defined in the State ‘Programme for Localisation of Production of Finished Products, Components and Materials’. #IndustrialDevelopment #EconomicZone #ManufacturingSector

🚢KCC invests in the world's largest suction sails on our upcoming CABU III newbuild As part of our commitment to reduce carbon emissions, we will install two of bound4blue's innovative eSAIL® suction sails, each standing at 24 meters, on our third CABU III newbuild, to be delivered in Q3 2026, marking a major milestone in our sustainability journey. "We are proud to collaborate with bound4blue to install this groundbreaking technology on our ships. This is a significant step for KCC and will contribute to reducing our carbon emissions. Furthermore, the technology holds great potential to help the broader industry achieve its decarbonisation targets”, said Engebret Dahm, CEO of KCC. KCC’s is building on the market-leading efficiency of our combination carriers, which have a 30-40% lower carbon footprint than competing standard vessels. The installation of eSAILs® is part of our environmental ambition to cut the carbon intensity of our fleet by more than 45% by 2030. The sails will be installed by Jiangsu New Yangzi Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. and Jiangsu Yangzi Xinfu Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., who will build our CABU III vessels. Fuel prices for alternative fuels and the cost of carbon will increase in the future and hence the value of consuming as little fuel as possible will increase. KCC’s fleet is already consuming 30-40% less fuel for the same transport work compared to the standard vessel doing the same work and we work every day to improve this competitive advantage. Below you can read more about the latest intitiative.
