Industry insiders have confirmed that a large, abandoned cargo ship, the Rubymar, is dragging its anchor and is responsible for severing four major cables off the Yemen coast: EIG, AAE1, a Tata system, & SEACOM. A few days ago a Houthi rocket hit the Rubymar, which then dropped anchor so the crew could evacuate. The ship is slowly drifting across the Red Sea dragging the anchor behind and slicing through cables. The ship is in the same area as the damaged cables. My contacts are highly confident that this is what happened. Anchors are notorious for damaging subsea cables. #subseacables #internetinfrastructure

A sixth cargo of #LNG from the #ArcticLNG2 Project appears to have departed Utrenniy, the project's home port on the west coast of the Gydan Peninsula in the West Siberian Arctic. The attached snapshot from marinetraffic.com shows that the #LNG carrier 'Mulan' departed Utrenniy / #ALNG2 today, 24th September. It is unknown where the #LNGC is heading. There's not a lot of room left in both floating storage units (#FSU) used by the project: the #Saam #FSU located in Ura Bay near Murmansk and the #Koryak #FSU moored in Bechevinskaya Bay on the Kamchatka Peninsula's east coast. Each #FSU has enough capacity to store 2-3 loads of #LNG (depending on the capacity of the #LNGC offloading its cargo). Within a few days, both #FSUs will be holding two loads of #LNG (#Koryak should receive its second load within days, while the #Saam already holds two). And if the 'Mulan' is going to bypass the #FSUs, all bets are off. Note: the red icon in the marinetraffic snapshot does not depict the Mulan's current location. The #LNGC should now be in the northern part of Ob Bay.

Passage of warm and cold fronts from Abadan port/Iran (WMO code 40831) on 19th March 2024. 18 hours of southerly wind, injecting moisture, adding specific humidity but at the same time dropping relative humidity (green curve) due to warm surface temperature advection (red curve change). Southerly from 6UTC - March 20 wind gradually changes to Northerly while the cold front passes and surface equivalen Mean Sea Level Pressure (MSLP) ascends. 19 March follows an irregular decreasing temperature pattern all the day long. While everyone is distracted by tracking where dark fleet tankers laden with volumes from the sanctioned Arctic LNG 2 project are headed, five ballast dark fleet tankers seem to be having a party not far from the project. North Air, North Way, North Sky and La Perouse (1) are currently gathered in the Barents Sea, while Mulan (2) is in timeout in the Kara Sea between the Yamal peninsula and the Novaya Zemlya archipelago.
