How does the nursing shortage affect your hospital? How does it affect the ability to care for patients? In March 2023, the International Council of Nurses (ICN) called for the nursing shortage to be treated as a global health emergency. Nurses are burned out by staffing shortages and a lack of supplies and resources. Musculoskeletal injury accounts for 77.2% of injuries among nurses annually.
