Why MINING? So often I’ve been asked during my time in the industry….“Why did you choose mining?” How is some small town WI boy running across North America visiting hundreds of mine sites a year!? (You’d be shocked how many people don’t even know mines still exist. Seriously….) Mining chose me. One of the best managers I had the pleasure working for, some 10 years ago, suggested I take over the mining territory for the company. Mining, at the time was a fourth the size of the industrial space I was hired to manage…. I was skeptical, but trusting. He sent me on a pheasant hunt out West with a field full of miners and assured me I’d flourish because those were me people! Well, he nailed it and essentially changed my life. They are my people. Some of the hardest working humans in the World! Small towns, big cities, mountains, deserts, forests and even under the ocean… Respect is given where it’s due, and a handshake actually means something. Across all my travels, there are still very few trips that haven’t left a smile on my face. The personalities are as big as their love for family and the outdoors. Hard work, safety, and NO Bull$*#t!! Since that day, I’ve been involved in supporting the mining and heavy construction industries. I feel at home and can be myself. #mining #maybeminingisforyou #happyfall #meatinthefreezer #almostSeptember #IYKYK🦌🐻🦆🦃🎣🏹💥 Turner Staffing Group Turner Mining Group
Hi Joe, It's truly inspiring to see how you've embraced a career in mining and made such an impact in the industry. Your journey from a small town in Wisconsin to exploring numerous mine sites across North America is a testament to your passion and dedication. It's incredible how your experiences help shed light on an often-overlooked field, demonstrating the vital role mining plays and challenging misconceptions about its relevance today. Keep sharing your story—it's both eye-opening and motivating!
I can’t agree with you more and understand why you chose to expand your career in mining. Truly one of the best experiences in my career was getting the opportunity to meet, learn, and work with individuals like yourself, and those in the industry.
Mining people are fantastic, that's why I love to write and photograph their work, and particularly cover the reclamation work and awards for putting the land back better than they original found it. I saw Elk in Wyoming on resotored land.
I love this post. Every person I've met in the mining industry has been kind, down to earth, and someone I have a lot of respect for.
That is an awesome pic! Mining totally chose you!
Amen
Congrats Joe!
