There are a lot of reasons to consider personally owning an EV and if you’re a business, transitioning your fleet to EVs (where it currently makes sense). It’s certainly not a one size fits all solution but I post as I have learned and experienced exactly what I wanted and expected. 1. A very fun and practical drive. Smooth, tech heavy and all the features drivers need and want! (Personal or driving for work) 2. Convenience. I never have to go to a gas station or get an oil change again! I have a “full tank” every day if I want it and the reality is, I hardly ever need to drive over 250 miles / day. 3. Cost savings. With partnerships and programs that utilities like Cobb EMC offers, I can use the tech in my car to charge off peak for $0! There are also possible rebates out there to subsidize the cost of the at-home chargers. One person’s experience here but having driven an EV as an employee (it’s why I couldn’t wait to get one personally) and now owning one for personal use, I have personally dispelled any issues with “range anxiety”…which is really the only issue I originally had to begin with. Charging ahead: a positive 2024 for UK EV drivers But beginning in 2024 and continuing into the future, destinations which do not offer EV charging will become the outliers. They risk becoming no-go locations for EV drivers if rival venues offer EV charging alongside their primary reasons to visit. One of the great things about EVs is that they produce so much insightful, actionable, data. Want to know charging habits over Easter, and how they differ to the Christmas holidays? No doubt there will be stories in certain media outlets about long queues for EVs trying to charge in Devon or Norfolk, but companies such as Allstar Business Solutions actually have the data to show really what's going on. To me, as in ICE-driver (I don't 'yet' have an EV, but this is clearly the future and it is definitely on my list of things to do, but that is a different post) this looks like a well-written experience of running an EV with a few issues that are "eminently fixable" and just need some time to get further into the early-majority stage. Hopefully just in time for me to move into the world of PiV.
