#SaturdayCampaignChronicles 𝗪𝗵𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗱-𝘁𝗵𝗲-𝗦𝗰𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘀 𝗠𝗮𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗮𝘀 𝗠𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 As an indigene of Ijebu Ode, I've always been in awe of the grandeur and cultural significance of the Ojude Oba festival. This annual celebration, which brings together the Ijebu people both at home and in the diaspora, is a proof to the rich heritage and community spirit of this remarkable town. However, as the fanfare and festivities subside, it's imperative that we shift our focus to the behind-the-scenes realities that often get overshadowed by the main event. Because the truth is, the true measure of a town's progress lies not only in the splendor of its cultural celebrations, but also in the day-to-day lives and infrastructure that shape the experiences of its residents. Let's be honest - Ijebu Ode, despite its undeniable charm and historical significance, is facing some pressing challenges that demand attention. From the piles of uncollected waste littering the streets to the crumbling state of the roads, it's clear that the town is in dire need of infrastructure upgrades and a comprehensive waste management system, among others. Moreover, the stark contrast between the modern development in neighbouring cities / towns and the relative stagnation of Ijebu Ode's socioeconomic landscape is concerning. As an indigene, I can't help but wonder - why hasn't the town been able to keep pace with the progress seen in Epe, Ikorodu, etc. considering its proximity to Lagos? This is where the true importance of the behind-the-scenes lies. Because while the Ojude Oba festival may captivate the world with its vibrant celebrations, the real measure of Ijebu Ode's success lies in its ability to provide its residents with the basic necessities and infrastructure they deserve. I call upon the government authorities and policymakers to urgently address these pressing issues. It's time to invest in the town's development, not just its cultural showcasing. And I challenge my fellow Ijebu people, both at home and abroad, to come together and champion the cause of their beloved town. Let's harness the energy and unity displayed during the Ojude Oba festival and channel it towards tangible, sustainable progress. Because when the behind-the-scenes are as important as the main event, that's when true transformation can take place. ~ D.K.O #DKOconsulting #commercialorganizationperformance #marketstrategy #brandstrategy #shoppermarketing #routetomarket #revenuegrowthmanagement #salesandmarketing #customerdevelopment #expertconsultation #changemanagement #integratedcommercialexecution #linkedintopbrandstrategyvoice Disclaimer: Opinion: The opinions expressed in this post are those of the author. 📸: No copyright infringement intended. Check What They're Building In Ghana Right Now!!! The Marine Drive Accra Project This is a whopping 241-acre redevelopment plan for Accra’s waterfront that stretches from Independence Square to the coastline, culminating in dramatic scenery across the Gulf of Guinea, into a new public infrastructure that has commercial, exhibition centres, offices, a beach football pitch, and recreational and retail facilities. Now, this project was developed by Ghana’s Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture and the main aim behind this project is to leverage the tourism sector in way that it hasn’t really done so before. But people wanna visit Ghana now, so it makes sense. And the thing is, everyone knows about the nightlife, but it also has a number of amazing places to visit –from Independence Square to the coastal fort area with its three historic fortifications: Jamestown Fort, Usher Fort and Osu Fort – and this knits them altogether. So for example, while Independence Square is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Ghana, it’s a bit out of the way and doesn’t really connect with anywhere else in the city.
