PRmoment Leaders latest:  Many thanks to Sian O'Keefe and Holly Clarke of Mars Wrigley for ending the first semester of our PRmoment Leaders Agency Programme with an excellent masterclass on what makes a great client-agency partnership. Trust and transparency have emerged as clear and consistent themes throughout our first semester. It was reassuring, I think, for our cohort to hear Sian and Holly confirm that openness is fundamental to positive client-agency relationships, and that this applies equally to both sides.  That speaks to an important mindset for agencies, certainly once the business is won but arguably throughout the pitch process:  to consult rather than to sell, because a sell mode can detract from the honesty needed in a positive working relationship. Related to that, Holly felt that the best agencies are those who understand the client business well enough to accept and embrace the situation when pivots are required.  That implies working as a true ‘extension of the client team’, which for sure is how great PR agencies always seek to operate. In response to a question about least desired characteristics, Sian said that complacency can sometimes be a watch out.  This is a key challenge for agencies, particularly with longstanding clients. Once you have a team resisting new ideas because "they’ll never go for that", you know you need to shake things up. I was also impressed to hear Holly share that integration is real at Mars Wrigley.  Their creative and PR agencies work together on campaigns, including crucially at the ideation stage. Very cool to hear that, it’s clearly the way forward!
