(Hint: relationship management and amplification/crowding in).   Four Ideas on Ways to Use This Brief: 1️⃣ Get *short * answers to: What is PSE? What is MSD?  How do each think about #Scale, #Sustainability, and #SystemicChange?  Are you or someone you work with new to one or the other? Get the basics with 🎉one paragraph-long 🎉 description of PSE and MSD.   Plus (perhaps overly?) simple ways to describe concepts of scale (how many benefit?), sustainability (will it last?), and systemic change (are things fundamentally different?) and what these terms mean in PSE and MSD practice. 2️⃣ Use the puzzle graphic as a #prompt for a team conversation.  Print it off, pass it around, and put it on the screen. Reflect on what pieces of the transformation puzzle your teams feel are your strengths. Look at the other puzzle pieces—are there ones you can more intentionally use? Who/what people, programs, or entities can you connect with to make that easier? Although we haven’t cracked this code yet—it's dying to be turned into a game. Print them off, cut them up—tell us how you ‘gamify’ this. 3️⃣ Appreciate Mindsets for Strategic Collaboration: Are you an MSD program trying to work with a PSE Point of Contact at USAID or a global partnership facility, for example? Check out the “reality check” section on page 6 to appreciate unique considerations that shape the mindsets and motivations of many PSE and MSD specialists.     4️⃣ Practical Tactics for Transformation: PSE and MSD objectives can intersect in the ambition to drive transformation and a shared embrace of the private sector as pivotal actors in catalyzing and investing in this process.  In designing programs and interventions, use the brief to identify a more diverse set of tactics—for example, MSD can leverage PSE’s strengths in corporate relationship management, co-creation during partnership design—use of diverse investment and partnership strategies. SYSTEMS CHANGE UPDATE 💢 VisionSpring is honored to join the inaugural Global SPECS Network hosted by World Health Organization, along with 30 allied organizations!  WHO has developed the GLOBAL SPECS strategy to increase the use of eyeglasses globally by 40% by 2030 – creating a world in which everyone in need has access to quality and affordable refractive error services.  The SPECS Network brings together stakeholders across all sectors to advance the 5 pillars of the SPECS strategy: 1. Improve access to SPECTACLES,  2. Build capacity of PERSONNEL to provide spectacles,  3. Improve population EDUCATION,  4. Reduce the COST of spectacles and  5. Strengthen research and SURVEILLANCE. As we embark on this journey with the #WHO and our fellow network members, VisionSpring is as committed as ever to improving access to eyeglasses and eyecare worldwide.  We are grateful to Alarcos Cieza and Stuart Keel for their system change leadership and tremendous effort in building momentum for this critical effort.  Want to join the network?
