Guugly Wuugly began in a single room, with just one person’s belief that parents deserve better when it comes to clothing for their children. Ravi, our co-founder, saw the need for kids’ clothes that weren’t just cute but genuinely comfortable, safe, and sustainable. With a deep-rooted passion for giving children the best start in life, he decided to create something meaningful—from home. Driven by the desire to make parenting a little easier, Guugly Wuugly was built on the foundation of love, care, and an unwavering commitment to quality. In those early days, everything from design to production happened within that room, but what we lacked in size, we made up for in heart. It was the belief that parents shouldn’t have to compromise on the clothes they put on their children, and that belief fueled our growth. Fast forward to today, and that single room has transformed into a growing brand, trusted by families who share our values. While we’ve expanded far beyond those four walls, our mission remains the same—to create soft, sustainable, and durable clothes for kids, with a personal touch. As the founder of Mind the Crown, I’ve been asked why our self-care brand sells kids’ backpacks. It’s a fair question, and the answer lies in our commitment to empowerment and community impact. In 2020, after the tragic death of George Floyd, our world was shaken. Our children, especially young Black boys, were exposed to narratives that questioned their worth and made them feel invisible. It was a painful reminder that their lives mattered less to some. Then, I stumbled upon the “Amazing Black Boy” backpacks. These weren’t just ordinary bags; they were beacons of empowerment. When a little boy wears one, it’s a statement. It says, “I am amazing. My life matters.” And when he puts it on his back, it’s as if the world sees him differently—through a lens of possibility and greatness. But why backpacks? Because self-care isn’t just about face masks and meditation. It’s about nurturing our community, especially our children. When a child wears an empowering backpack, it’s an act of self-care for their spirit. And for mothers, grandmas, and aunties, it’s a way to invest in the next generation—to remind them that they are seen, valued, and cherished. So, the next time someone asks why our self-care brand sells kids’ backpacks, I’ll tell them this: It’s about more than storage space and zippers. It’s about wrapping our youth in love, resilience, and the belief that they are extraordinary. And for us women, it’s a reminder that self-care extends beyond our own well-being—it’s about lifting others up too. It’s from S.A.A. clothing. A company started by James Hunt, dad to Jude and Tommy and author of ‘stories about autism’ (see insta if you’ve not come across it before). His willingness to share a life happening differently to most others has helped countless families navigating similar experiences. 💪 It’s a form of virtual community building at its absolute best (something we’ve been considering in our context of #stewardship and #placemaking in #newdevelopments Tim Allen). And you know how much I love to advocate about enabling thriving communities! 🩷 It’s not always easy to know what to say (even when you can). 🩷 But what makes the biggest difference? 🩷 Small gestures of support and understanding to those around you, in whatever form they come. Few things illustrate just how powerful non-verbal communication can be. We issued a Women4Change Indiana Voices' call to action and Cindy Dashnaw Jackson, nonprofit storyteller and content strategist of Cause Communications LLC, answered with: "2 myths that perpetuate locking baby formula away from shoppers and parents" Dashnaw underscores that often isolated incidents are amplified, weaponized, and used for sweeping and burdensome corporate changes which hurt the very people they purport to protect: the parents who need formula to feed their infants. "The bottom line: Evidence doesn’t support claims that infant formula should be locked away from parents. Focusing on the myths of shoplifting and drug dealers obfuscates the real problems with the U.S. infant formula market." As with childcare, the real problems are accessibility and affordability.
