The best part of being at #IMTS is seeing what's not for just now, but also for what's next. For example, I saw LightWELD, an IPG Photonics product, at IMTS - International Manufacturing Technology Show. I do believe it is the future of welding as it does do a good job at mitigating issues associated with welding, from heat distortion to talent difficiencies.

CNC-robotic weld profiling: x25 faster, up to 80 % cheaper per meter and (net) zero effect on weld material properties compared to belt grinding. Apologies for the long silence! We've been busy researching the effects on the material properties in butt welds of replacing manual belt grinding with our high-rate, low-cost and repeatable quality MAX TM401 weld profiling robot. The research was undertaken by RTOs FORCE Technology and Danish Technological Institute under a demonstration project grant awarded by Manufacturing Academy of Denmark (MADE). The result is a net zero. By the time the welds have been sandblasted for coating purposes and in accordance with DNV-RP-C203 and NORSOK, no differences in material properties between machined and grinded weld specimens were found. Dear all, I would like to share our latest research on the weldability of the newly developed Ni-based superalloy G27! It is published in Science and Technology of Welding and Joining, and investigates the effect of pre-weld solution annealing on hot cracking susceptibility using Varestraint weldability testing. The G27 superalloy, designed for high-temperature applications in aerospace, was studied under different annealing conditions to assess its fusion zone and heat-affected zone cracking behavior. Our findings reveal important insights into how grain size and pre-weld heat treatments influence the material's cracking resistance. Achmad Ariaseta's research could significantly improve welding processes in aero-engine manufacturing, where lightweight and high-performance materials are essential. Great job Achmad Ariaseta!
