Team - it’s starting! 🥂 I’m seeing more and more posts for organization hiring recruiters, or even just announcing plans to add to TA headcount in 2024. And I couldn’t be more excited for all the #opentowork recruiters in my network!! However, if you are currently hiring, or soon expecting to hire - let’s hit pause for a moment. ⏸ There are a couple things to consider: 1️⃣ There have been 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗻𝘁 advancements in technology surrounding recruitment and sourcing.* 👉 IF you were able to maintain a TA department over the past 12 months, have they had the bandwidth to stay abreast of these changes? 👉 And/or implement changes that leverage these tools? 2️⃣ As a follow up to above point: AI and automation 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 impact the composition of your team and their responsibilities.** 𝘗𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘦 - 𝘥𝘰 𝘕𝘖𝘛 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘢𝘴 “𝘈𝘐 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘭 𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘳𝘶𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘴”. 𝘈𝘉𝘚𝘖𝘓𝘜𝘛𝘌𝘓𝘠 𝘕𝘖𝘛. But, when analyzing the amount of time your team is spending on core activities, I guarantee a good chunk of it would be better allocated to automation / AI. And there needs to be an evaluation of the existing team composition. 𝗜𝗳 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀, 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗺𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗧𝗔 𝘁𝗲𝗮𝗺! 𝗠𝘆 𝗮𝗱𝘃𝗶𝗰𝗲? 📋 Whether your hiring need is urgent, and you need someone to carry a req load today. OR if you’re anticipating the need for early 2024. 𝙀𝙉𝙂𝘼𝙂𝙀 𝘼 𝘾𝙊𝙉𝙎𝙐𝙇𝙏𝘼𝙉𝙏. Bring someone on for 90 days - ideally someone who will carry a 50% req load, and focus on optimizing your TA strategy and team the other 50%. I messaged Amy Miller last night to get permission to tag her, and I got an enthusiastic thumb up 👍 For everyone jobseeking out there: ATS is an acronym for Applicant Tracking System. It is a digital filing cabinet (thank you for the very apt description, Amy), and it works to store candidate data for recruiters. It is not a robot gatekeeper or a winding abyss where resumes go to die. Recruiters use an ATS to track and store candidates so they can later reach out to them if they believe them to be strong contenders for requisitions. The ATS allows the recruiter to search for candidates with specific skill sets, certifications, experience, education, et cetera, and they can then reach back out to gauge that candidate’s interest in the role. That’s it. Digital filing cabinet.
