Today, Twincraft Skincare participated in The Vermont Corporate Cup Challenge and State Agency Race, a 5-kilometer team running/walking event open to businesses, government, and non-profit organizations in Vermont. The purpose of this event is to promote physical fitness within the workplace and at home by bringing employees together to enjoy and experience the benefits of fitness.
I am grateful to work for a business that encourages and supports healthy behaviors in all areas of life, including physical, emotional, spiritual, and financial well-being. This evening was fun bonding with coworkers, and I'm thankful to be part of a company that fosters these opportunities for healthy experiences.

This year we have had a celebration of two halves, one for knowledge sharing and one for wellbeing and charity.
Firstly we had our good friend Ian Girling in from Dorset Chamber for a special lunch and Employee Ownership Roundtable. 📖
We gave Ian an insight into EO and spoke about our own personal experiences of it at Blue Sky. Ian came prepped with some questions which he then asked us. It was great for us to talk about how Employee ownership has benefited us all and share our knowledge too.
Next up, the team went on an Everly Trails Hike🚶♂️🌳
The team went on a 10 mile round trip coastal walk, visiting some of the best spots on the Purbecks.
This was an auction prize from the MYTIME Young Carers ball we attended last year, the team had an amazing time and we also were able to give back to such a wonderful cause.

You might have seen the recent Great Ormond Street Hospital Charity motion identity by Jones Knowles Ritchie. We think it's brilliant, and brings a personable, lively element to the brand, giving it the emotion it deserves to evoke.
It's made us think even deeper about motion within brands in general.

How can we plan, design and deliver events that serve a higher purpose?
It’s first important to understand a client’s organisation to identify potential partnerships – beauty brands, for example, could find alignment with non-profit organisations such as Beauty Backed .
If there are existing collaborations at play from a CSR perspective, consider ways to activate this through events – such as by having a leader from the charity speak.
Importantly, and a big one for me: make sure your business and people share the same values as the client. Beauty brands such as Groupe Clarins support organisations including belle & bien, meanwhile REN Clean Skincare is a zero waste business, and there are many others doing good work in this space.

QUESTION?!
Is it only me that is worried about the rise in personal branding? 😣😣😣😣😣
I understand that we all want to progress our careers and build for ourselves, not just employers. But I do worry.
We live in such an individualistic society already, collectivism and coming together is often how we create significant change. But personal branding tends to steer away from collectivism.
I notice lots of people wanting to outwardly be the ‘hero’. But I have learnt through years of in depth community work:
1. You don’t give to receive
2. Don’t expect a thank you or appreciation if you do help, it often comes a long while after
3. Giving often goes wrong if you do it from the wrong place
4. Sustainable change is not achieved by one-off acts of kindness. Whilst it is so nice and thoughtful, if we seek change, it takes years and years of consistency, as does anything
Giving and helping seems to have become something that people are doing to enhance their personal brand. But is it actually helping? Or creating a scenario that actually may do more damage than help? Is it diluting the message/understanding of how giving back actually creates change?
Talking about things to raise awareness is only 1 part of creating change. Doing the work actually the creates change.

For-profit businesses that partner with #nonprofit organizations - traditional, social service organizations - should understand the mission, vision, and strategic needs of the organization in order to maximize the #impact possible.
Far too often, in my opinion, businesses go into the partnership or sponsorship looking to maximize their own goals without understanding the organization's. This is not another vendor, giving you some product or access to retail space or opportunity. This is a #philanthropic entity that is established due to a need in the community that needs your help and support. Sure, they are willing to do something in return (i.e. recognition, employee engagement, etc.), but their mission is not that.
All that said, there is tremendous value in corporate-nonprofit partnerships! Seek them out, maximize them where possible, and be proud of the impact you are having. ...Just remember what is at the heart of them: mission, vision, and strategic needs.

I AM ENOUGH
YOU ARE ENOUGH
WE ARE ENOUGH
I am truly feeling these words/phrases after organizing and running my Second Annual YOU ARE ENOUGH 5K this past Sunday on May 5th. The work I have done and am doing around the YOU ARE ENOUGH movement is settling in. The 5K was a major success with the attendance doubling since last year. The community support was heartfelt and generous as far as funding and manpower goes. And, most importantly, I could not have scaled the event as much as I did without the grant I received from the LA County Department of Mental Health and for its #TakeActionLA initiative. Their scope of reach is amazing and their PR arm no doubt helped me with the increase in my number of 5K participants. I also am taking a little credit with my PR, fundraising, sales, and community relations skills I have acquired after all of these years!
I learned a lot this second time around and with a bigger budget I also had more stress. However, it was good stress! I also learned about myself and how much I love running my non-profit, Giving Purpose Organization, and how the flagship campaign, YOU ARE ENOUGH, has the legs and heart it needs to grow and continue on to reach more people throughout the nation. My sponsors were also amazing with names like #murad#hammitt#skechers#kinecta#lacountydepartmentofmentalhealth#Kiwanis and more! With the help of these organizations I was able to put on a successful 5K, run pre-event wellness sessions that brought business/awareness to wellness practitioners, and planned co- mental health awareness days with multiple vendors. And, what I am most excited about is that with the grant I was able to get 10 billboards up in LA County, one of them being the first Spanish billboard!
It is beautiful to see how people and communities are coming together to help people feel worthy, seen, and supported. The energy at the event was all about love, smiles and hugs.
Thank you LinkedIn friends for supporting me on this journey as I try to figure out how I can run this full-time. I know I will make it work and I know I will reach more communities with these three powerful, supportive, and healing words! #youareenough💙
