How to get rich...SLOW This week we hosted an exclusive event for Flux students, where some of our successful community members shared learnings from their journey. From doing $50 logos on Upwork to being fully booked and doing $10k months, the stories all shared similar patterns, which I recognized from my own path as a freelancer. The common thing in all stories was this: Building a successful freelance business takes TIME. For example, Stephanie Corrigan only started getting into design in 2018 after transitioning from neuroscience. That's six years of hard work, uncertainty, and times when things were down rather than up. The ability to keep going even when things are uncertain and not looking bright is what all successful freelancers (and business owners in general) share. The worst thing you can do right now is be blinded by all of those "get rich in 90 days" promises you see over on social media. Nothing worthwhile is built fast. Build your skills, your portfolio, and your network. These will pay dividends for years to come.

The worst mistakes I made as a freelancer (That you shouldn’t) → No Time off → Working for free → “Yes” to every offer → Never charged for my time → Offered discounts more often → Working like a bot not a human → Let client decide when should I rest → Writing without scope and deliverables → Hoping on 2hour long call thrice a week 6 months ago I didn’t know How to set boundaries and value my work. But Today I prioritize myself and my work with set boundaries. P.S. Does any of these resonate with you? ------------------------- I help you write high converting email and sales page copy that attracts right leads, not random leads.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐮𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐈’𝐯𝐞 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫? 𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞: the best way to attract new clients is to focus on two key things: 1️⃣ Be easy to work with. 2️⃣ Consistently deliver great work. While personal branding and content planning have their place, referrals have brought me far more business than anything else. The power of word-of-mouth can’t be underestimated! 💼

WHY YOU SHOULDN’T JOIN MY FREE 5 DAY LINKEDIN VISIBILITY CHALLENGE It all seems like too much hard work, business has got to pick up eventually, right? You’d rather pay for advertising than go the organic marketing route (though note that advertising works a LOT better once you have the organic stuff in place) You already have a great system which involves cold messaging hundreds of people on the basis that at least some of them might come through. You don’t actually want to attract more suitable, better paying and more consistent clients. Otherwise… here’s the link to find out more and join us. Doors open next Friday, and we’ll kick off with a bonus task for earlybirds, taking you through the different posting formats, and what's working well in 2024. https://lnkd.in/eYS9tE_E https://lnkd.in/eYS9tE_E ********** I help ELT/ ESL and language teaching freelancers like you learn how to create freelance businesses that help you earn more, work less, and thrive.
