The collective effort of the entire logistics and supply chain ecosystem of India has stationed India at a crucial juncture in the present global trade scenario. India stands beaming with an impressive domestic logistics landscape induced by the manufacturing boom - an outcome of the special impetus given by the Indian government through the ‘Make in India’ campaign with the objectives of being Atmanirbhar and ‘vocal for local’. At present, the Indian logistics industry employs more than 22 million people. So, on the occasion of National Logistics Day, it becomes imperative to look back at the history of the term ‘logistics’ and how an entire industry took over a function as crucial as supply chain management.
