🥃 With the popularity of whisky-inspired scents on the rise, what are the parallels between the whisky and fragrance industries, and what are the possibilities for both crafts to generate new excitement among consumers?
💡 Whisky expert and founder of the first Scottish niche fragrance brand, KINGDOM Scotland, Imogen Russon-Taylor, recently shared her expertise on how whisky and fragrance have always used a similar technical #language and relied on closely related expertise and manufacturing processes:
"There are so many, from the hunt for the finest ingredients, refined distillation processes, to non-chill filtering – but the most powerful parallel for me is the aromatic reveal. For example, if you look at a whisky flavour/nosing wheel compared to that of a perfumery note wheel – showing the classic fragrance families – you will see an incredible amount of crossover."
Reflecting a broader #trend towards #niche and #artisanal fragrances, the intersections between the whisky and fragrance industries open many new doors for new consumer demographics, uniting not only whisky enthusiasts and fragrance connoisseurs but also lifestyle sector and seekers with an emphasis on luxury and exclusivity.
As Imogen reminds us, #British #perfumery and the whisky market are poised to make a significant impact on the global stage.
Niche British brands are gaining recognition for their commitment to quality and creativity, introducing native botanicals and innovative scent profiles that capture the essence of British heritage.
Meanwhile, Scotland's whisky industry continues to pioneer new techniques and flavors, elevating its cultural significance and bolstering Edinburgh's position as a hub for luxury and innovation, as seen with high-end fashion & beauty brands, including CHANEL's recent Edinburgh beauty pop-up (https://lnkd.in/dtQ7gfk4 ) , investing in the city's strategic demographic.
Fragrance launches inspired by the malt quality of whisky and featuring notes that recreate its aromatic qualities include:
