In recognition of National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM), we are proud to highlight some of the incredible work across Twitch to prioritize accessibility and inclusivity. Jared Suasin, Senior UX Designer, raises the bar for accessible design on Twitch. Jared’s designs prioritize accessibility from the outset and his thoroughness on the Stream Together experience have fostered a collaborative environment that is both productive and enjoyable. Jennifer Wu, Senior UX Designer, has been instrumental in improving accessibility on Twitch. Jennifer's detailed engineering guidance has helped ensure accessibility is built into Twitch's development process. Jirachaya Kiriruangchai, UX Designer, is known for her meticulous attention to detail and boundless creativity. She has elevated design best practices at Twitch to new heights, with a strong focus on accessibility. Jirachaya proactively seeks user perspectives and asks thoughtful questions to foster a culture of open and inclusive communication, as exemplified by her work on new password guidelines. Karl Thibault, Software Engineer II, seamlessly integrates accessibility into his work. His proactive approach has saved time by preventing the need for retrofitting and has significantly improved the accessibility of projects like Stream Together. Karl is described as an "accessibility champion" who has contributed to bug fixes, technical solution guides, and even hosted a successful Accessibility Bug Bash in 2024.
I'm a small streamer on Twitch with disabilities. During my time on the platform I've learned more about myself and connected with many other creators who share both similar and different experiences. Visibility and normalization is so important. We are not "unable," merely "differently abled." Twitch, thank you for highlighting key members of your team!
Thank you 🫰🏻
Amazing work, all 4 of you!!
"I was watching a streamer I follow for a long time without any issues on my PC. Then, I logged into Twitch on my phone and went to another channel. No conflicts at all. Later, I tried to write in the chat from my PC and got this: 'Your message wasn't posted due to conflicts with the channel's moderation settings.' Over and over again. Unjustly, bugs. Fix it. I'm not a suspect." "Twitch doesn't help, and they don't have a Contact Support option in the account list. Always the same issue: this phone is linked to another account, which I could never resolve. Even deleting it doesn't work, and I don't know which account it could be. I can't do anything, and there's no solution button. Everyone says a mod should help, but they don't do anything." desde la 4 am a + 22hs trabajando y me rompen la cabeza con esto ahora
