We’ve decided to close your account, they told me. We appreciate this may be unexpected news (yeah, just a little), but we cannot reveal the exact reason. Oh, the mystery.
It will take up to 15 working days to move your funds to a new account. Fine. An inconvenience, yes, but life happens - I’ll just find a new bank account.
17 days later, and thousands of pounds were still being held hostage, leaving me unable to pay my colleagues and suppliers. Mettle do I need to remind you who it is that banks with you? It seems you may have forgotten.
Your sudden and rather elusive decision to close my bank account, with zero empathy, grace period, or understanding of the importance of cash flow in a small business is, well, highly ironic.
Please, do better Mettle and NatWest Group. I’m off to Lloyds Bank that has somewhat more mettle than you.
