We all know that companies collect, process, and use large volumes of personal data, some of which could reveal sensitive information. Recognizing this reality, in February of this year President Biden signed Executive Order 14117 on "Preventing Access to Americans’ Bulk Sensitive Personal Data and United States Government-Related Data by Countries of Concern." https://lnkd.in/e9eCpeXW In addition, during the Section 702 reauthorization debate, Congress discussed legislative proposals to restrict the Intelligence Community's collection and use of "commercially available information" (CAI). As these and similar discussions and processes have been underway, the Intelligence Community has been developing a policy framework to govern its access to, collection, and processing of CAI. https://lnkd.in/gmNgDdFi As Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines said in releasing the framework: "We produced this framework in recognition of the fact that a series of developments have made CAI increasingly important to our work, while at the same time raising novel issues related to privacy and civil liberties. Today, not only is an astounding amount of CAI already available to the public, but various actors, including adversaries, also have access to increasingly advanced analytic tools that rely on, among other things, artificial intelligence, to exploit such information in new ways that exacerbate existing threats.... Put simply, the combination of an increasing amount of readily available data regarding the activities of individuals—often perceived as not especially sensitive on its own—and increasingly sophisticated analytic tools can in the aggregate raise significant privacy and civil liberty concerns." I hope you can join us on Monday at 2pm Eastern for a timely online discussion of this new policy framework. I will be moderating a conversation with Jason Barrett, ODNI's Executive for Open Source Intelligence (OSINT), David Kris, who is the author of a national security surveillance law treatise that is often cited in court opinions, and Becky Richards, ODNI Civil Liberties Protection Officer.
📢 Join us for an engaging webinar on the IC's Policy Framework for Commercially Available Information with Becky Richards and Jason Barrett of ODNI and David Kris of Culper Partners LLC, moderated by Senior Project Director Alex Joel. 📅 15 July | 2:00 - 3:30 p.m. ET | Online 🔗 Register here: https://loom.ly/QNyF2nY

Sustainability Ambassador for African Businesses | Sustainability & ESG Advisor | Non-Executive Director |
🔊 The questions will be answered.....tomorrow 🔊. And I am calling out specifically to #africanbusinesses. Considering that more and more investors, lenders, customers, employees and society at large are really interested in a business's impacts on the environment and on society, #SustainabilityReporting is no longer a "nice-to-do" or good PR. So it will be very worthwhile listening to the why and what of The Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) which is to date the most widely used Sustainability reporting framework. And to have the questions answered by the founder of the initiative.
Chair, Global Sustainability Standards Board; Board member; Emeritus Professor; Founding Editor, SAMPJ; Chair, ICAS Sustainability Committee
Tomorrow the #GSSB will hear from GRI's Founder Bob Massie. Why was the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) established? Is our mission still important? How can it best be achieved? Bob will give his view on some of these questions and others. The meeting agenda is here https://lnkd.in/gSFhYvNJ You can listen to the livestream of GSSB members in discussion with Bob at 8:30am Central European Time tomorrow (Tuesday) at https://lnkd.in/gpHyN3y5
