There are more than 90M men, women, and children who get their care through the Medicaid program nationally… Studies expect 20% (18M people!) will disenroll from Medicaid by next year due to the “redetermination process” currently happening across the country. Another study found that 62% of those that need to renew their Medicaid coverage are not event aware. It’s also not clear to many seniors that have both Medicare and Medicaid that they need to renew their Medicaid coverage as well. This is the health equity challenge of 2023-2024. Our most vulnerable and isolated Medicaid members might be the first ones to lose their coverage even though they need it the most. If this does happen, Heath disparities will only become more severe.
