Skillbridge companies doing things off the books, against the policy, or outside morale and ethical boundaries of business...I could name more than a few. I have filed my pressing issues that I have witnessed first hand in regards to hiring, W-2 vs 1099 and even curriculum or direct-to-hire vs working full time for a company that has offered contracts to those who are still on their skillbridge to ensure the are working 10 hour days. If you are experiencing these issues you can file also. 1. What would you make of this? 2. What would you do about it? I for one, won't stand by while DoD Approved Skillbridge affiliates hurt the veteran populations growth into a civilian lifestyle. Not today! #DoDSkillbridge #LetsTalk #Veterans #HireVets #VeteranCommunities #ChargeForChange #ServingOurNation Veteran Success Resource Group (VSRG) DoD-SkillBridge Veterans Employment Vets4Hire Talent Acquisition and Recruiting for Veterans United States Air Force U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Department of Labor Veterans’ Employment and Training Service

Oracle Health Government Services Senior Consultant | Physical Therapist leveraging technology to improve healthcare in an increasingly digital landscape | Military Spouse
When I worked at UCHealth in Colorado Springs they were already a designated #militaryfriendly company with an emphasis on #Veterans. But with at least 6 military installations between Colorado Springs and Denver, they decided that wasn’t enough. They decided they wanted to be a #militaryspousefriendly employer too. So what did they do? They formed a committee of their employees who were also military spouses! They made sure to have the right voices at the table to ensure their efforts delivered actual results. They recognized as a hospital system that for their #militaryspouse #clinicians they could not offer job transferability or remote work with a #PCS, but they knew there was still room for improvement in their current policies. Items discussed before I moved were things like: ✴️extra PTO when your active duty member is deployed or on an extended TDY ✴️city-wide advertising that they wanted to hire military spouses ✴️a mentor/mentee type program for new and seasoned military spouse employees to connect and support each other I was floored by this and it was with great sadness that we moved away as the committee was gaining momentum. But such is the way of #military life. If a company wants to make changes to be more military spouse friendly, they need to ask the military spouse community because things that seem good in a locked boardroom don’t always translate to real world help. #militaryspouseemployment

Next step is to align this with what families actually look like. I could have benefited from this, but because my family doesn’t look like a nuclear family I get excluded. If the federal govt wants to retain and recruit then they must adjust to the societal norms of today. Or lose talent to private sector.

Every 1-2 years, I save 40-80 hours of paid time off to move. As a military spouse, I have no other choice than to use those precious hours to: Prepare for the move Receive the packing crew Watch our lives get loaded onto a truck Physically drive or fly my family to our new duty station Live in an empty house or hotel Receive the unloading crew Unpack all the boxes In June, President Biden signed an executive order encouraging federal agencies to provide military spouses with 5 days administrative leave for PCS. When will military-friendly and military spouse-friendly companies do the same? Or better? 40-80 hours PTO for a military move would help so many spouses. Supporting the military family IS supporting the service-member. Let's make it happen. --- Hey, I'm Sam. I'm an Air Force veteran and military spouse. 📣 D'you hear there! OP PROSPER is in effect... It was a pleasure to be invited to the RAF Museum this morning to hear from Johnny Mercer and Rishi Sunak about the launch of 'Op Prosper', an initiative designed to build on the support already available to veterans and improve awareness of the skills and talents of veterans among industry and employers, to encourage businesses to hire veterans. The White Ensign Association (The WEA) was especially proud of our Corporate Partners Barclays (Kevin Gartside, Danielle Sandy) and Amazon (Emma Morgan) being highlighted by the Prime Minister as leading businesses in the promotion of employing ex service personnel. Minister for Veterans’ Affairs Johnny Mercer said: ''Our veterans leave the military with an abundance of skills, and the tenacity and drive to continue achieving greatness. But for too long, too many have ended up in jobs that don’t fully harness their talents and abilities. That is why we’re introducing Op Prosper. By connecting veterans with employers, engaging industry bodies on the importance of hiring veterans, and strengthening their qualifications and skills, this Government will ensure more ex-servicemen and women are securing high quality and fulfilling employment. Hiring a veteran is one of the best business decisions a company can make, and OP PROSPER will help ensure this is realised by all employers across the country.'' https://lnkd.in/ew6T6jcg #workingtogetherforyourfuture #yourfuture #serviceleavers #veterans #veteranemployment #support #servewell #leavewell #veteransupport #veteransuccess #militarytransition #militaryspouses Royal Navy & Royal Marines Charity Royal Navy Royal Marines Royal Fleet Auxiliary
