Nonprofits approach for grant strategies. They stay for the transformative journey. (This approach has led to consistent client success and referrals) I've emphasized this throughout my consulting career: You can't solely focus on grant writing techniques. You can't just share funding statistics. You can't be all about processes and zero about people. You must provide insights into the heart of nonprofit work. I've witnessed this with EVERY nonprofit I've guided. No exceptions. My own journey included. Mission stories → They inspire action. And here's the beautiful part: You're not just seeking funding. Instead, you're giving your supporters something (someone) to believe in. Through your organization's story, you make DONORS feel "connected" and "impactful". That is the most powerful nonprofit strategy ever. Shift focus from "informational" → Be "inspirational" That's how you secure lasting support. (without constant appeals) Repost ♻️ if this resonates with your nonprofit journey :) P.S. Is the era of dry grant applications over? Are we back to storytelling? Share your preferred method for connecting with funders. #NonprofitSuccess #GrantWriting #FundingStrategy

If I thought nonprofit would be easier - I was wrong😀 Moving from for-profit agency work into nonprofit consulting has been a journey filled with new challenges. The only good thing is, there are a lot of transferable and familiar skills. In my agency days, success was measured in numbers—ROI, client growth, competitive edge. I got to know clients inside and out, refined strategies, and pushed for results in a fast-paced, revenue-driven world. Nonprofit consulting has been a different rhythm altogether, but no less intense. Now, it’s about helping nonprofits increase their community impact, stretch limited budgets, and create sustainable growth. The stakes feel even higher because every grant secured or strategy refined can make a real difference in someone’s life. At the same time, I see that the core skills haven’t changed much. Listening deeply, building trust, driving results—it all matters just as much here. The one thing I’m still working to master? Navigating the intricate web of nonprofit community trust. I know a stronger handle on this will be such a major difference. It’s been challenging, but this work feels more purposeful than ever. And I’m ready to lean in fully. #nonprofitconsulting #grantwriting

When was the last time you enjoyed creating an annual report for your nonprofit organization? For most organizations—nonprofit or for-profit—annual reporting can feel like a massive drag. You must gather information from all your departments and programs, collating details on activities, populations served, outcomes, and more. And, except for financial materials like audits and tax returns, the bulk of the work of annual reporting is optional. No one requires nonprofits or businesses to compile glossy annual reports. Plus, annual reports take a lot of time and resources to create. So, do you really need an annual report for your organization? Today, I've done 12 executive calls with 5 nonprofit founders, 4 board members and 2 fundraising leaders. All on behalf of RUOVA Consulting Before I take a much needed break, here's my honest unfiltered opinion; - most nonprofits aren't fundraising ready (they think they are but they aren't) - without a 501c3, you're not a nonprofit. (it doesn't matter if you think you are) - being a nonprofit does not equal no budget. - more nonprofits should focus on grant writing than hosting fundraising events every month. (they're not gonna like this one🤣) - Part time grant writer = not serious about Fundraising. (what can a part time grant writer really do for you?) - RUOVA gives you a team of grant writers at the cost of hiring one grant writer (yet you're missing out because you want a staff grant writer 🥲) - most nonprofits who are really doing impactful work are struggling with big nonprofit syndrome. (the insecurity that stems from feeling like you're doing enough since you're an underdog) - nonprofit orgs should stop letting cranky Janes answer their phone (I got told off by a few staff members until they finally realized why I was calling 😆) & last but not the least, - NONPROFIT LEADERS & EXECUTIVES SHOULD CHECK THEIR EMAILS AND LINKEDIN more often than they currently do!!!! 😭😭 These unfiltered opinions are actually professional advice my clients have found helpful as they struggle to navigate the nonprofit industry. But hey, you don't have to do it alone ❤ Find an ally in RUOVA Consulting ---------------------------- #nonprofit #nonprofitlife #nonprofitorg

Nonprofits that partner with their development staff and executive directors create very strong organizations and community impacts. Whereas organizations that expect fundraising results without understanding or providing the tools, strategies, and support necessary to make success possible will always struggle. Understanding development and setting realistic expectations is the foundation of this vital partnership. What is effective development, what does it look like: • It's not magic. • No single donor or appeal will allow you to sit back and take your foot off the gas. • It is a 52-week job. • Everything in your nonprofit touches development. Everything. • If you're not helping your team, you're hurting your nonprofit. • Consistency wins. • Data is your best friend. • Being able to tell your story, impact, and needs is the best feeling in the world for development teams because it creates connections and creates results that transform communities. First, invest in learning the fundamentals of giving as an organization. This means understanding the value of engagement, what it is and how to do it, what being a good steward means, and the process of development. Second, set realistic goals and timeframes. Funding is about building trust and can't be rushed. Align your organization's expectations to the reality of the time it takes to build relationships. When was the last time someone ran up to you asking for money, and you gave it? Never. You don't like pushy salespeople, and no one donates due to a pushy ask. Third, provide your teams with the right tools and support. This includes technology, professional support, and, most importantly, the time needed to implement sustainable strategies. Focus on these essentials to break the boom-and-bust cycle and create a strong and sustainable funding foundation for your nonprofit. Development professionals build meaningful donor relationships where donors feel valued and engaged; it is that connection that provides consistent financial support. Mirror that relationship in your organization with your development team. What's working or not working in your organization? #NonprofitFunding #FundraisingStrategy #DonorRelations #NonprofitManagement #DevelopmentProfessionals
