Have you heard? We’re in the high-risk zone when it comes to biodiversity, which means we’re closing in on a point of no return. Animal and plant species are disappearing rapidly, changing the very nature and functioning of our planet. There is hope for the planet. We can still turn things around on #biodiversity, even though animal populations have fallen by 60% since 1970. We can protect wild places, use land carefully, and implement legislature that protects wildlife—all those are great ideas, but that’s just the beginning. How would YOU turn things around on biodiversity? We want to hear your ideas in the comments and keep this list growing!

#WetlandsWednesday | Wetlands are rich reservoirs of biodiversity that are vital for humanity and nature to thrive. About 40% of the world’s plant and animal species depend on wetlands. Their diverse ecosystems support healthy planet functioning and sustainable human development. It is time to fulfil longstanding commitments to stop the loss of the world’s wetlands and the biodiversity they host. #WetlandConservation #WetlandsMatter

#DidYouKnow that over one million plant and animal species are now at risk of extinction? This loss of biodiversity might seem distant from our everyday lives, but every extinct species weakens the #ecosystem and brings humanity closer to serious problems. Today, on #WorldNatureConservationDay, let’s all be mindful of our actions and commit to saving biodiversity to save ourselves. #MahindraLifespaces #CraftingLife #Sustainability

Reforestation involves the deliberate planting of trees in areas that have been deforested. It plays a crucial role in mitigating the adverse effects of deforestation by restoring ecosystems, sequestering carbon, and promoting biodiversity. By participating in reforestation efforts, we can help rebuild the natural habitats that are essential for the survival of countless plant and animal species.

Preserving rainforests is crucial in protecting the staggering variety of plant and animal species that call them home. By doing so, we can stop the disappearance of rare and priceless plants and animals, and preserve biodiversity. Let's take action to protect these vital ecosystems. #ClimateChange #Ecosystem #Biodiversity #Rainforest #EcosystemRestoration

Ocean ecosystems and human coastal communities depend on healthy wetlands. And the mangrove forests that thrive in wetlands are amazingly efficient at storing carbon. NOAA recently reported that "mangroves and coastal wetlands annually sequester carbon at a rate ten times greater than mature tropical forests." We're proud to be part of the Regenerative Development of Anlo Wetlands (ReDAW), a community-driven mangrove restoration project at a Ramsar-protected site in Ghana. As planting begins, we're more excited than ever to see this forest restored—and witness the return of marine biodiversity to this ecosystem. Learn more about ReDAW here: https://refore.st/3vAwbOY
🦀 Mangroves are hotspots of biodiversity, providing shelter, home, and critical stopover sites to an astonishing diversity of plant and animal species. 🌳 Mangrove forests are indispensable allies in the race to a net zero world. With only 147,000 km2 of these unique ecosystems remaining - we need to prioritise their protection and restoration for a healthier planet. #WeNeedMangroves #ForNature

Nature studies are at the heart of our Children First learning experience, from Nursery 1 up. From having lessons beneath the mango tree to tending the school garden and exploring the flora and fauna that live there. From watching videos and looking at images of plants and animals, landscapes and environments the children would never otherwise see, to learning about botany and zoology, and understanding evolution. From looking at extinct creatures of bygone eras like dinosaurs and woolly mammoths, to looking at animals that today are on the verge of extinction, and crucially understanding our role in their demise, and understanding climate change, nature is at the heart of the Children First Academy learning experience.
The animal world is fascinating, isn't it? It's scary to think it could disappear. The alarm has rung. To act #ForNature is now or never. Discover UNESCO’s efforts to protect biodiversity: https://lnkd.in/emb6QXYX
