How fast do things move in the diabetes-related device industry? Very fast. At this time last year, I was involved with conducting human factor studies using a tubeless insulin-delivering patch pump. I trained healthcare providers, people on other insulin pumps, and prospective pump users on this device. The system includes a locked-down controller with Bluetooth wireless technology with a color touchscreen, and a 300-unit insulin reservoir patch pump. Here we are one year later, and the FDA granted that device 510(k) clearance. Embecta Corp is developing the system. It probably will take a year or two to come to market, but boy, was that fast. If you work in the diabetes space or live with diabetes, what are your initial thoughts about another patch pump coming to the market? I can tell you it probably won't be the last.
