Cleveland Clinic reports on their success of the Hospital at Home model: ✅ Patient experience scores surpassed those for in-hospital care while having similar illness severity levels. ✅ Readmission rates are lower for Hospital Care At Home than the brick and mortar hospital (9.6% versus ~13%). CMS is expected to report on the Hospital at Home programs in September and Congress will need to act by year end to renew the waiver that allows them to continue or make the authority permanent. Failure to continue the permission will mean more patients won't have the choice to receive care at home and more hospital beds will be needed. 312 hospitals in 37 states currently use Hospital at Home to meet patient choices and relieve facility burden. Early mobility is essential to recovery.
For many patients, just swinging their feet over the bed feels impossible. But with this simple motion, their mobility journey begins toward a return to daily life. Our team is dedicated to advancing patient mobility, providing a comprehensive regimen that includes twice-daily exercises, chair time, therapy-assisted movements and walking sessions, even for patients on a ventilator if feasible. We’re here to support our patients and families every step of the way. As we observe Critical Care Recognition month, we’ll dive more into each of the Five Whys. There's major potential to improve the inpatient experience by just increasing transparency. Many hospitals already do this, but there should be a virtual screen in the room where the patient can see WHO is on the care team and what their status is with their treatment (e.g., pending MRI scan, waiting for lab results). A lot of anxiety and discomfort in the hospital comes from just all the unknowns. I analyzed this issue a bit in a prior Inefficiency Insights newsletter. Since I'm back working in the hospital, I'm thinking about it again. Check it out here 👉 [https://lnkd.in/eky7Sb6Y] #patientcare #hospital #medicine #safety #satisfaction

Could using Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS) more frequently in routine care help cut down on hefty hospital fees? By ultrasound-trained clinicians diagnosing or screening for conditions directly in the doctor's office, #POCUS could reduce the need for costly and sometimes unnecessary, hospital visits. It's efficient, cost-effective, and can keep #healthcare more affordable. Should there be a push for more POCUS in routine care to save on healthcare costs? What do you think? https://loom.ly/03D_8PU #HealthcareInnovation #familymedicine #primarycare #officepractice

NHC Tanasbourne Medical Clinic received a big upgrade — new height-adjustable exam tables! 🙌 These innovative tables improve both patient care and provider efficiency. Previously, patients with mobility challenges faced difficulties getting onto stationary tables, but now, with tables that adjust from 18 to 37 inches, accessibility has never been easier. Monica Avalos, lead CMA, shared how these new tables have made her work smoother and safer—especially when performing tasks like EKGs. This upgrade isn’t just about comfort, it's about providing equal and safe care for all. At NHC, we're always looking for new ways to continue improving and providing the best care for our patients. #AccessibleHealthcare #PatientCare #HealthcareInnovation
