Kudos to Grab in applying lean startup and experimentation to launch new innovative features to their users, such as the “food locker” and “large order” examples given in the article. To stay competitive and to keep up with the ever-changing market demands, one has to dare to try out new ideas, challenge the norm and be differentiated, and probably one of the best way to do this is via pilots and MVPs, and when users see that their feedback and complaints are heard, they will continue to support you as they know you are trying to make their life easier. Positive feedback loop. #leanstartup #experimentation

CEO @ Roitels Inc. | Specializing in Hospitality Technology | Expert in Revenue management and AWS |Passionate about Enhancing Customer Experience in Hostel Chains and Independent Hostels through Technological Innovation
Tech Tales: Embracing the Human Side of Innovation . Today, I want to share a story about a guy named Alex, a developer with a heart full of passion for problem-solving and innovation. Alex is not just any developer; he's a member of the "5 AM Club," a group of developers who meet at the crack of dawn to share ideas and work together. Alex's vision was to create an algorithm that could revolutionize how hostel companies manage their inventory. He dedicated 66 days to this vision, following a strict protocol that included physical activity, planning, and studying. His journey was a testament to his resilience and commitment. The algorithm became a valuable tool for hostel companies, helping them accurately predict inventory demands and optimize their resource use. It was a beacon of clarity in the darkness of the hostel industry's challenges. The algorithm was designed to handle “shared inventory,” a common challenge in the hospitality industry. Shared inventory refers to the scenario where a single space can be sold in various forms of housing units. For instance, a 4-bedroom shared space can be sold as a private room for 2, 3, or 4 people. Traditional methods of managing such shared inventory can be challenging due to the varying demand for different units. This can lead to inefficient use of resources and potential financial losses. The algorithm, however, provides a solution to this problem by enabling accurate prediction of inventory demands and optimization of resource use. Alex's story is a testament to the power of collaboration, continuous learning, and the human touch in technology. It's a reminder that behind every successful tech innovation, there's a human story. To achieve his vision, Alex decided to follow the 66-day protocol of the 5 AM Club. Every day, he got up at 5 in the morning, dedicated the first hour to physical activity, the second hour to planning, and the last hour to studying. He was learning new skills, experimenting with different coding techniques, and working on his algorithm. So, what do you think? Is there a problem you'd like to solve? Let's hear your ideas! 💡 #TechInnovation #HumanTouchInTech #Innovation #Collaboration #ContinuousLearning #SuccessStory #HostelManagement #InventoryManagement #technologicalinnovation

When Orly Peters and her husband moved to St. Louis in 2015, they felt disconnected from home, and authentic food became a source of comfort during their transition. This feeling — shared by so many who yearn for a taste of home — led Orly to launch her company, Habuyta- A Bite of Home. As a 2022 graduate of Square One Bootcamp, Orly refined the ideas for Habuyta and created “the Etsy for home cooks” to address homesickness, fight loneliness, and foster connections through the universal language of food. At its core, Habuyta provides a blueprint for home cooks to launch and promote their businesses. Importantly, it also helps provide meaningful social connections: Habuyta creates a sense of home through food-centric experiences. The marketplace connects importers, suppliers, and home cooks, offering authentic ingredients and facilitating connections. Orly says: “Thanks to the invaluable insights gained from the SQ1 Bootcamp, I've had a significant realization that has profoundly impacted my business strategy. Understanding the importance of prioritizing branding and marketing before launching the Habuyta app has been a game-changer. “Consequently, I've successfully developed a compelling name and logo for my business. Moreover, I've commenced the branding and marketing process, resulting in substantial interest and traction. “I am immensely grateful for the transformative experience provided by the SQ1 Bootcamp. It has empowered me to make strategic adjustments and take crucial steps toward the success of my venture.” . . . #fuelinginnovation #SquareOneBootcamp #SquareOneIGNITE #SQ1 #smallbusiness #STLpreneur #CortexSquareOne

Every dev team has a unique culture. All technical founders know this. I call it the ‘Dev Kitchen.’ I've seen how this blend of operational style and culture shapes their work. Non-technical founders may not be aware of this, though. And that lack of awareness is actually causing friction. Great ideas get lost in translation between non-technical founders and tech teams. Launch goals move further away. Projects spiral out of control. Product quality plummets. Understanding a tech team’s culture – their ‘Dev Kitchen’ – is where I’ve found the real unlock. Find out in this video how you can tap into this for a successful product launch.

Lead Product Manager for Chatbots & Gen AI @ Flo Health app 🩸 | Ex Bupa, Cancer Research UK | Speaker in product, health tech, femtech
I’m really excited to join the panel at the next JET Just Eat Takeaway.com product innovation meet up to talk about how to achieve innovation within organisations. I spent the first part of my product life in innovation and new ventures teams outside of the ‘’main business’. Often it was due to product teams just not having the bandwidth to be future facing. So the answer was to set up specific teams that could be dedicated to big bets and radical innovations. But there are challenges..What starts off as an ‘island of freedom’ getting POCs built quickly can sometimes become a frustration trying to secure buy-in, investment and roll- out into the real businesses. Fast forward to my life at Flo Health Inc. and I find that 3 years into life in a scale up my perspective has shifted. I now believe that yes this can be part of a product teams. As a product lead for Chatbots it’s absolutely my responsibility to think not just about what we deliver now but where we want to be in the future. But I think there are huge advantages to this approach - particularly with the make-up of our product teams at Flo and I think it’s within our culture to its core- it’s why we see huge success with our product teams and the huge growth of the last few years. 🎉 Two Years of CouBon: A Journey from Idea to Impact 🎉 Exactly two years ago today, in a University of Toronto dorm room, an idea was born—an idea that food prices could be lowered during slow hours while also optimizing restaurant sales. This win-win concept became what you know today as CouBon—your favorite discount app for smart savings and great dining experiences. 🌟 The Problem: As students, we know how challenging it can be to manage expenses—between tuition, rent, and everyday costs, enjoying a meal out often feels like a luxury. Restaurants, on the other hand, face the challenge of slow hours with empty tables, missing out on potential sales. 📲 The Solution: CouBon bridges this gap by offering exclusive discounts during off-peak hours, making dining more affordable for students and helping restaurants fill seats when they need it most. It’s a win-win—students save money while restaurants boost their sales. Over the past two years, we've transformed that dorm room idea into a platform that helps students and local businesses alike. We’ve celebrated some amazing milestones, but we’re just getting started. Our journey is far from over, and we have ambitious goals ahead to continue growing and expanding our impact. Join us as we look back on our achievements and gear up for the exciting future ahead. We welcome you to be part of this journey as we continue to redefine student savings and support local businesses! #CouBon #SmartSavings #SupportLocal #StudentLife #WinWin #UniversityLife #Innovation #Startup
