USDEC, in partnership with Dairy MAX Inc. and the Dallas Cowboys, has launched a three-part U.S. cheese promotion in Monterrey City and Saltillo, Mexico. The first part included sampling and merchandising of U.S. cheeses at 20 HEB stores. For the second part, USDEC, DairyMAX, and the Dallas Cowboys collaborated on in-store interactive promotions in six stores, featuring games, the Cowboys’ mascot Rowdy, and giveaways of Cowboys’ merchandise and “Cheese from the USA” water bottles, cutting boards, and blocks. These promotions began on Aug. 10 and will continue through Sept. 1. The excitement will continue into October with a U.S. cheese recipe contest. Mexican consumers are encouraged to submit a dish featuring a U.S. cheese to enjoy during football matches. The person with the winning recipe will receive an all-expenses-paid trip for two to a Dallas Cowboys game in November.

Strong ties with foreign governments underscore USDEC's aim of expanding global markets for U.S. dairy. Today’s meeting with Ambassador Gabriel Martínez from Argentina’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs strengthened this relationship, solidifying USDEC’s presence in the region. A highlight of this week's USDEC trade mission to South America was an opportunity to meet with U.S. Ambassador to Brazil Elizabeth Frawley Bagley, ninth from left. flanked by USDEC President and CEO Krysta Harden, USDEC Chair Alex Peterson and other trade mission participants.

Today, USDEC Chair and Missouri dairy farmer Alex Peterson had the privilege of meeting with the President of ABRALEITE (the Brazilian Association of Milk Producers), Geraldo Borges. Like Peterson, Borges is a multi-generational dairy farmer and a lifelong advocate for the dairy industry. Together, the two farmers signed a memorandum of understanding between their organizations aimed at fostering cross-continental collaboration. With a shared mission, ABRALEITE and the U.S. Dairy Export Council are committed to promoting dairy consumption and enhancing public awareness of the nutritional benefits of dairy products. This strategic partnership, rooted in common goals, will empower both organizations to share knowledge, align initiatives in key international forums, and drive global trade opportunities. In 2023, South America was the 4th-largest market for U.S. dairy exports. This week, a USDEC trade mission is engaging with food companies, retailers and agribusiness leaders in South America in order to gain a greater understanding of the market's buyers and consumers. Participants in the USDEC trade mission are shown below with officials from the Brazilian Association of Cheese Industries. They met Tuesday morning.

During today's meeting with Grupo IMC (Pizza Hut) in Brazil, participants in USDEC's trade mission discussed the important role of cheese in South American diets -- which receives a boost from pizza -- and how U.S. cheese can help in fulfilling that role. Three U.S. dairy farmers and a dairy exec are on a USDEC trade mission to South America this week, sharing their stories and promoting the quality, safety and the vast portfolio U.S. dairy products -- as well as a strong desire to grow U.S. dairy exports in the region.
