#politics Vladimir Putin of Russia began with these demands on Ukraine in order of escalation of the conflict from 2008 through now: 1. Comply with the Budapest Memorandum and remain neutral. Trade within the Russian Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) sphere of influence and not with the European Commission (EC). Ukraine: NO. We are sovereign. We can make independent decisions. 2. Treat ethnic Russian citizens of Ukraine in Novorossiya as equal citizens in the Ukrainian democracy. Ukraine: NO. Marginalizes the Russian language. United States interferes in Russian election of Putin. Civil war in Ukraine begins with Central Intelligence Agency support in Donbas after Crimea is taken back by Russia in 2014. 3. Putin comes to the military aid of Donbas. 4. Putin ends the Budapest Memorandum, exits from SALT II treaty. 5. Putin recognizes Donbas as two independent countries. 6. Putin annexes Donbas and other parts of Novorossiya. 7. NATO begins to arm Ukrainian self-defense. 8. Ukraine applies to both NATO and European Commission membership in a firm move toward the West. State of play and end game/compromise: 1. Ukraine no longer wants to have anything to do with Russia. We must respect this sentiment. 2. Crimea and Black Sea access was originally Soviet granted to Ukraine by Nikita Kruschev. Ukraine cannot contest Putin’s annexation of Crimea. 3. Novorossiyan people have the right to self-determination just as Ukrainians do. They can independently choose to remain in Ukraine or become independent nations within the Russian sphere of influence, or become part of the Russian Federation with no coercion from either the West and Ukraine or Russia. Ukraine must give up Crimea and Novorossiya and be acceded to NATO and the EC without further delay. The Speaker of the US House of Representatives Mike Johnson who insisted on the end game of The White House must finance this end game in Ukraine in exchange for a non-negotiable timeline for comprehensive immigration reform.

You don’t have to be Ukrainian to understand the threat that Russia poses. For Americans, this fight should not simply be about choosing sides between Ukraine and Russia. It’s about doing what’s right rather than appeasing a rapacious and predatory evil. It’s about promoting democracy and freedom rather than supporting oppression and imperialism. It’s about living up to America’s historic commitment to a free and democratic https://lnkd.in/gb2rXuu6

In August 1991, Ukraine declared its Independence as the Soviet Union was disintegrating. In a Dec 1991 rederendum over 90% of its citizens, approved its Declaration of independence. Immediately over 70 nations, including Russia and China recognized Ukraine's sovereignty. Now one man, Mike Johnson, prevents the Military aid package from getting a vote that that would overwhelmingly approve it. A bill the Senate passed with a supermajority 70-27 margin. Johnson is clearly doing the bidding of Putin lover Trump. Now he's playing games saying that any House bill must have border funding. Blatant hypocrisy from MAGA GOP yet again as Johnson killed the Senate border bill that many Republicans in House supported as "strongest bill in decades." Call your Congressman or Congresswoman and demand the aid package be passed. Go to https://lnkd.in/ekDciX6M for phone numbers. Have we forgotten the lesson of appeasement?

☝️ Plot twist: russian dissident Ilya Yashin now urges not to surrender even a part of #Ukraine to Putin! Just days before, he called for a ceasefire and immediate negotiations. Now he opposes surrendering even a part of the Ukrainian territory to Putin. 👍 One day of heavy criticism and voila! Now Ilya Yashin: - doesn't call for peace negotiations; - says that Ukraine shouldn't give up any of its territory; - mentions that the best way to help the opposition is to support Ukraine; - compares western appeasement of Putin to appeasing 𝐇𝐢𝐭𝐥𝐞𝐫 (which obviously didn't work) - speaks about the 𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 of Ukrainian POWs. 💡 This is the reason why you shouldn't blindly follow politicians but stay critical and always keep your bucket of 🍅 nearby. To be fair, these dissidents were locked up without access to #media since before the 2022 invasion in some cases, so may only now be catching up with reality. Or maybe it's just damage control Still, I respect Ilya for his willingness to correct and admit his mistakes and it's certainly a step in the right direction. Next stop: Supporting ZSU! #Leadership #ethics #StandWithUkraine 🇺🇦

I often refer to the Budapest Memorandum of 1994 when discussing the situation in Ukraine. The memorandum, involving "The Russian Federation", USA, UK, and Ukraine, provided guarantees that Ukraine's sovereign territory would be respected. Unfortunately, The Russian Federation violated this agreement in 2018 and again in 2022. As part of the agreement, we, as leaders of the free world, pledged unencumbered support in case of an invasion of Ukraine. It is crucial to uphold the Budapest Memorandum and protect democracy for all. #IStandWithUkraine #LSG #ABG #BudapestMemorandum
